For our non-American members-Care to educate us on a similiar holiday in your country?

July 1st is Canada Day for us. We were going to go camping in the States, but I dont want to deal with the boarder lineups. Its usually really busy in Vancouver over the Canada / 4th of July weekend because lots of people from Washington come here to shop. I think we will stick around home and bbq with some friends. Nothing too exciting. I am hoping that the weather is good so we arent stuck inside for 3 days lol.

the weather outlook for the w/e is looking absolutely perfect so i'm hoping to take in some fireworks 1 or 2 of the nights. then a parade where all the kids get to dress up their bikes, motorized jeeps, etc in Patriotic gear and walk around the neighborhood. then we'll go back to my mom's house to spend the day in the pool and having a cookout.

We dont have any plans since we will be alone.
I am not one to do fireworks, so since dh is not home we will not be having any other then sparklers for Andrew.
I do plan on taking the boys to see fireowrks in the downtown area of town, they have such great fireworks.
