Can you guys give your opinions please???

When did you start potty training your little ones? How did you start? What did you do? How long did it take? Any tips???

My dd is 15.5 months old, and someone the other day commented on the fact that I haven't started yet. When do you start???

not at 15 months unless you're really brave, lol.

i started pt'ing alleria at 18 months, and she was pretty much done by 20 mo, but it was rough. trist is still in diapers, a few months ago he got really interested in pt'ing and we did it for a month or so, but then he lost interest and so did i, lol. once they decide they're not doing it you can either force the issue or give up and do it later, and i chose do it later. with the amt of interest i have in pt he very well may be wearing diapers 'till preschool, lol.

if you're really interested, check out the potty training boards here at ivillage, they have lots of good tips :)

baaaahh, such people should be shot, lol. 15 months is really really REALLY young. among my friends/aquaintances i'm considered the freak for even THINKING of pt before 2 1/2 or so. alleria was the youngest potty trained toddler i've ever known. to be totally honest, i don't even know why i did it so early, except that i thought i was supposed to. she really had no interest and it was sooo much stress on me AND her and i wouldn't do it again. it's like a bad nightmare that i prefer not to think about, lol. with tristan i only started because he really really wanted to and seemed good at it, and as soon as it became stressful i stopped. i'd much prefer it that way....

so ignore all stupid looks and commments and listen to your dd.

My grandma SWORE that my dad and aunt were trained at around 6 months or so.

Yeah, I beleive that!

What probably happened is that they were on a regulated schedule with food and such so my grandma knew when to put them on the potty. Or, she was so old that her memories were not right.

If your baby shows signs of readiness now, then by all means start. But if she isn't showing signs, then hold off. It can't hurt to have the potties around and to let her "play" with them. Get the books to read to her about using the potty and such. But if she isn't trained tomorrow, then don't worry about it.

IMO, as long as she is at least day-trained by 3 you should be fine. But you still have a long way to go!

ya know, i think the people that say that either have selective memory or have a different deffinition of potty trained than i do, lol. ok, a one yo can barely walk, can't talk, and is certainly not capable of pulling pants up or down, so how exactly are they potty trained? do you mean that if you sat them on the potty every half hour and poured water on them they'd go? well whoop-de-shoot, my cat is litter box trained and she does more than that!! to me potty trained is when you can say "i need to pee", hold it till you get on the potty, go, then wipe and flush and pull things back up, and no one year old i've ever heard of is capable of that, lol.

if it makes you feel any better, my bro and his wife are just as delusional. they're very, shall we say, competitive parents, and they will tell you with a straight face that their ds was completely pt'd day and night by 16 months. now we have PICTURES of the kid in diapers at his 2nd b-day, not pull ups, diapers!! but they'll still tell you their little prodigy was done with diapers before a year and a half, lol. there's no arguing with them so we all just go along with it. if it means that much to them let them have it, kwim?
