Here's something fun to do with the kids for Christmas. Whip up a batch of this reindeer food and sprinkle it on your lawn on Christmas Eve so Santa and his reindeer can find your house : ) It's also a fun and cheap gift to give to friends in playgroup, school or wherever.

Mix the following ingredients and put a small zipper food storage bags:

1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup bird seed
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals (or glitter)

Here are a few ideas for little poems to attach:

Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path with guide them on their way
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts next morn on Christmas Day!

OR

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.

OR

On Christmas Eve, before you go to bed,
Sprinkle this magic Reindeer food on your lawn.
The magic glitter and the smell of the oats
Will help guide Rudolph to your house.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

I am so glad you posted that! I made these last year for the kids in my Sunday school class and could not remember besides the oats what I put in them :) I put mine in babyfood jars though that I put a reindeer sticker on the lid.
