reusing baby food jars?

does anyone have any creative ways to recycle baby food jars? my community does have a recycling program, and we've been doing that, but i wonder if anyone reuses them around the house for anything.

my mom figured out that the gerber ones have a large enough mouth opening to put a tea candle in them, but you can only have so many tea candles...

any ideas?

my dad uses them to organize nails and screws in the workshop. you could also keep some for all the extra buttons that come with clothes.

You can also use them a favors if you have to throw a baby/bridal shower for anyone. Just cover the outside with tissue paper and put a candle in and voila! You've got a cute favor! :)

My hubby uses them in the garage for nails and such.

I also used some to freeze homemade baby food in.

You can use them in the craft room. For all those little beads and stuff.

Sewing box for hundreds of uses.

Your own tool box

Plant seeds in with the kids to grow a mini garden

snowglobes. You glue a small figure on the lid. THen you use water glitter and glysorn

(glee sore rin how the heck its spelled) just a drop or two. put a bit of hot glue around the inside rim of the jar and snap it on. Instant snow globe.

Piggy banks or penny banks as by dd calls them. Animals or snowmen, house, huts, ....

We use some felt to make ears and glue on some wobbely eyes and a pipcleaner for a tail. (get creative) Sometimes my dh will cut slits in the top for me. But I just remove the lid most of the time.

The new plastic Containers are great for all of this too. Use them for Barbie shoe and other small toys. The stack nice and I don't have to worry about them breaking.

We make magic reindeer food at christmas time. You put in baby food jars, oats, and glitter. You write on a peice of paper, that the smell of the oats and the shimmer of the glitter will attract rudolph and his friends to you house and have a snack while santa eats his. sprinkle this around your lawn on christmas eve night, and the children will have so much fun. But we make this up a while before christmas, and they can see the magic reindeer food through the glass jar. I always make up alot, because I know a lot of kids, and I give it to them. They all love it.

Another thing I've seen people do is make candle in them. You can get a candle making kit at the local craft stores. Im saving mine for this, thought it would be great christmas presents from the kids to grandparents.
