"School is for boys and big kids"

My girls went back to preschool this morning. . .
The other night after school, Michael asked them how school went and told them he was so proud of them for being such big girls. Tessa argued and told him she wasn't a big girl. She said school is for big kids. Then Michael told her "Well, Justin goes to school, and he's not a big kid yet." She thought about it for a minute, and then said "That's 'cause school is for boys." LOL! Society might have agreed with her 200 years ago. . .
So all the way to school this morning, she was complaining to me that school was for boys and big kids, and she was niether. Like I was making some fatal mistake, throwing her in with the lions before she'd had a chance to learn to defend herself.
When we got there, I signed them in and talked to the teacher, and, once again, as I left to go, she started to cry, breaking my heart. Jenna was OK. She went right over to the toys. One of the other little girls there came up to Jenna and said "Hi, I'm Haley. What's your name?" and Jenna smiled at her and said "Jenna Gabrielle S----" (complete with first, middle and last name, LOL!). So I'm hoping she starts to make friends, and maybe Tessa will take her lead.
I got home and called the school (OK, I'm a nut, I admit it), and the teacher said Tessa had STOPPED CRYING!! YAY! And she was just sitting close to Jenna very quietly. The teacher told me she took Tessa on her lap and calmed her down, and it worked. I'm actually surprised Tessa let her, she's so shy! But that is definitely a good sign! If she can learn to like and trust her teacher, school will go OK I think.
And when I picked them up, they both came running over to me and hugged me, and Tessa was not crying at all.
Last night I read them the story "The Kissing Hand." I don't know if you all are familiar with it, but we bought it for Justin when he started school, and it is the cutest story about going off to school! So before we got in the car this morning, I gave their hands a kiss to take to school with them (with Tessa telling me school was for boys and big kids, so I was making a big mistake, LOL!)
Just thought I'd post an update. . . I'm feeling a bit more optimistic!

Too Sweet!!!! My 5 Yr old actually read the kissing hand in Pre-K and LOVED IT, I had to buy it for her. It is a great book.
I love reading your updates. I know it must be harder for twins because they are always togeher, but it could also be easier they each know someone. My (((hugs)) are with you as you get through this!!!
