Sensitivity to disposable diapers?

Hi all!

My son is 7 months old and I think that he has a sensitivity to disposable diapers. He keeps getting these really bad diaper rashes and they have started to spread over his body. We've been to the doctor many times and they can't figure it out and I really think it's the diapers. I recently switched him to a "natural" brand of disposables that claim to be perfume and dye free but it doesn't seem to help. Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of thing? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm thinking of switching to cloth, do you think that would help?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me, I'm at my wits end trying to figure this thing out!

My son has also appear to be sensitive to disposable diapers. He gets a rash on his legs when we use other brands then the one we use now. The one brand we really like is from Sam's Club- it is their brand- I don't recall the name right now but it works great and no reaction- plus we save money! Let me know if they work- or if you have a Sam's club.

I think cloth diapers are great! I used them for both of my children. I found them very easy to manage. Especially the new kind. You buy a few outer cloth diapers that have velcro sides then cloth liners for the inside. I never had problems or leaks. They were super absorbent. I bought mine at baby's r us and beleive they saved us a ton of money.

I hope you can find something that works for you.

I second everything she said, except I bought mine online. There are a TON of great sites where you can buy a huge variety of things. There are wayyyyy too many choices to go into here, so I recommend checking out the diaper board.

The best part for me, I think, is that I didn't have to go buy all new stuff for my second child. I just bought a few new covers and that's that!

Thanks to everyone for all the advice! I went to Babies R Us today to buy some prefold cloth diapers and a couple of wraps. They're in the washer right now so I'm going to try them tomorrow! It's amazing how much info there is on cloth diapers on the internet, it's been very helpful.

Thanks again!
