Just curious, when did your kids begin to sleep all night?

Hi Kelly,

I don't have a lot of time right now, but I would suggest a book called "The Happiest Baby on The Block." It has great tips for helping your baby sleep through the night. What worked for me was swaddling or wrapping them up really cozy, but not too tight. Also, Aveeno baby lotion with lavendar. A couple of my babies slept comfortably dressed cool, while the other two slept best dressed warm. Let me know how it works out... and hang in there.. this time will fly by before you know it - then you'll look back and wonder how you functioned on an hour or two of sleep per day. :-)

I totally forgot about swaddling. We had to buy Ben a Swaddleme blankie from BRU so he could stay wrapped up all tight. Finally had to break him of swaddling when he outgrew all his blankies around 6 months or so. How could I forget all that?

Oh yes, definately swinging!! One of our children really loved the midnight walks around the house, too. Isn't it funny how everyone really has their own individual likes and dislikes, even as young as newborn? I have a 17 year old (almost 18), a 15 year old, 3 year old and 1 3/4 (almost two). All my children are all very individual and I really enjoy watching each one grow and change... and also seeing what is important to them at any given moment.

You don't even want to know how long it took for my oldest son to consistently sleep thru the night.... It was almost 2 years. Yes, years. This is why there are 4 years between him and his brother!! We tried everything; he just has never been a good sleeper. He is 11 now, and I can still remember with great clarity the constant feeling of total exhaustion during those first 2 years. He still goes through phases where he will wake up in the middle of the night and not want to be alone, so he'll move to the extra bed in his brother's room.

My younger son was a much better sleeper, but definitely went through phases, too. From talking to my friends, I think it is very rare for a baby to NOT go through bad sleep phases during the first year or two.

I know, this is nothing new to me, I have a 2yr old and she didn't start sleeping alone and through the night until now!
