first of all I don't know exactly your girls room looks so I'll just bounce some ideas that would go in Ragnars small bedroom

if you'd get a tall bed for Emily that you can have a bookshelf and reading aria under and then you could get some cupboards (sp?) above the bed that are well shut for things you don't want them to get into them selves and maybe clothes

that way you can use a small patch of the floor for many things you could put the crib on the other side of the bedroom and put some cupboards above that to but think of putting them up high enaugh to be able to upgrade to a tall bed for her too later on.

I also the firenze (sp?) closet space savers from IKEA

well that's all I can think of for now...

Try to use as much vertical space as you can. Hang organizers from the ceiling or on the walls to get things off the floors. Stack plastic drawers as high as you are comfortable with. Put risers under the bed posts so you can fit drawers or bins underneath. You can always use a tall shelving unit or even a bookcase and put labeled baskets or bins on it.

Don't be afraid to get rid of things you know you aren't going to use. Or even things you just don't like that much.

The only things I can think of to add are to "cycle" their toys. I don't know about you, but my boys have TONS of toys (I always say we are our own Toys R Us here!), so I packed up half of them and every once in a while we take out some toys and put others away. It's nice because they aren't overwhelmed and it's like getting new toys since they haven't seen them in so long.

The other thing I do is hang one of those clothes organizer things in their closet... one of those things that has all the cubbies? KWIM? Anyway, I put toys in each cubby instead of clothes. You could use it to organize just about anything.

Jamie

My girls are in need of floor space so instead of getting them a chest of drawers they need very badly I have thought about cabinets that hang on the wall, like in the kitchen. Still not sure about this since I'd wnat it to look nice as well as be functional. Just something I've thought about.

If some of the cloths that are under the bed don't fit the girls...divide the cloths up in age boxes. Then put them in a closet that you will beable to get into once a month. After that get rid of all the other cloths that are to small for your youngest. You can also do that with there toys. If they have alot of stuffed animals that you don't want to get rid of...you can buy a chain or a toy hamick to put all the animals in. I also have the plasic draws that you can buy as one or three. I have divided toys, clothes, pictures and many other things in. It does not look bad and the little one can open and close them with very little trouble. If you have to kids sharing a room (like I do) then you can always buy one large chester draws and split the draws between the two kids. It works well and it teachs the kids how to share things. I don't know if any of these ideas are helpful to you but I have done all of these things at one time or another with my kids. Good luck and have fun.

I have some of those plastic drawers under the boy's beds for clothes; that way, I can easily get to them, they are like having under the bed dressers, so we don't have to have actual dressers. I also got several hanging cloth organizers...they are like a column of cubbies that hang from a hook, we put toys in them and can sort them (plus the stuff that is really messy or you don't want the baby to get to can be in the higher-up cubbies.)
