Actually, I do the same thing every year - they get one of those big peppermint sticks, a coloring book and crayons, an orange and a small Whitman's sampler...I tried something different once and they were annoyed, so that's a tradition now !

In the stockings I put an orange in the toe, and then some candy, like chocolate santas and a candy cane or two. Then for Caroline possibly a small piece of jewelry, like costume jewelry mostly. Maybe a movie that she's been wanting, and then a doll-- Barbie, Bratz, My Little Ponly, etc type out of the box and posed half out and half in the stocking top. For Christopher I'm not sure about this year because he's only one, but as he's older he'll get like a little matchbox car, a movie, and an action figure type doll hanging out like Carolines doll.

My dad was a single dad and every year for some reason we got the newest toothbrush and toothpaste (u know from a new movie we liked, glow in the dark, powered) and for some reason me and my siblings loved it and looked forward to it. and now i carry on the tradtion with my kids who have already told santa what toothbrush and toothpaste they want this year. i think its our way of feeling better about all the candy we shove in there with it. lol
