summer "school-ish" routine needed
| Thu, 07-01-2004 - 1:57pm |
Hi, all!
Does anyone have a summer schedule or routine they wouldn't mind sharing? What I'm looking for is something w/ structure that will incorporate learning time, fun time, down time. I don't want school to come around and start at square one.
I'm thinking -- up, breakfast, dress, read a book, work on letters/writing/whatever/"school time", then play, lunch, play, nap
I don't plan on this being a rigid kind of thing, but most days I feel like I'm going by the seat of my pants.
I have preschoolers, 5 & 2.5.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Tiffany

I don't see anything wrong with going by a schedule. I would not be able to function without them and they let me have ME time as well as time with kids.
I would start out by making a master schedule.
Sit down and think about your morning routine, and everything you would like to accomplish.
I start out by scheduled prayer and reading a bible passage, then exercise and shower and get dressed. I have everything on my master schedule like waking up kids, when to start breakfast and a reminder to brush mine and kids teeth..lol. I even have scheduled diaper checking times since I keep children during the summer.
I have alternate schedules for fun days, like tuesday library day, and thursday park days.
Remember though that if you are a perfectionist a schedule is probably not for you, you have to surrender yourself to the idea that kids and things just happen, sometimes your schedule will not go the way you want.
We have arts and craft time in the morning as well as reading and music time.
Hope this helps some, if your still stuck post back.
