Tantrums!

Omg! How do you deal with full blown temper tantrums? My 14 month old daughter will lie on the floor, and/or flop around like a fish kicking and LOUD screaming when I try to get her dressed or change her diaper. It makes it impossible to go anywhere with her. Also when she is overtired and we are out she will lay on the floor and kick and scream.
She hates being in the stroller too, she complains and tries to get out everytime!
Advice that has worked for you? Please I am desperate!

PS She takes steps but is not walking on her own yet

THANK YOU!

I feel for you... I went through that with my oldest, and now my son is starting to throw temper tantrums. Whenever he starts in, I put him in his crib with some toys and leave the room. I'll go back in after about 3 minutes (he'll still be screaming) and pick him up and go rock him (he calms down as soon as I pick him up). If he does it again, it's back in the crib. He's finally getting the point and he's only 16 months old.
I finally had to learn with my oldest that I absolutely could not take her out if she was overly tired. She has asperger's syndrome and just does not do well at all... I'm talking full blown kicking screaming fits in the car (she has finally stopped that thank goodness).
You have to remember too that at this age she wants her independence... strollers are restrictive b/c she can't run around and get into everything. Try keeping her occupied with some crackers and milk, or toys. Make riding in the stroller a fun experience by making motorcycle noises and pushing her fast, then slow. Have fun with it and she will enjoy it too :o)
GL!

~~Hugs~~ my son Eli is 18 months and he is into tantrums too, I try not to give in and give him what he wants unless he has calmed down, I'm hoping eventually he will see he gets what he wants when he does not throw them.
