Telephone rant....

For a few months now, I have had a stupid tele-company calling us. They are trying to sell calling cards to the Phillipines. The first few weeks, they were calling daily...around 8:30-9:00pm. I was nice, saying that we dont EVER call there. Then I got mad, when they kept calling. I asked (nicely) for them to take our number off thier list. The calls stopped for about 2 weeks. Now they are back with a vengance. I have gotten really mad a few times (last night and tonight) Tonight, the lady called me an F-ing B, and hung up on me. All I did was ask for the managers name...I already have the phone number from my call display. After she called me that, about 5 minutes later, she called back, swore at me again, then hung up before I could say anything.

What can a person do in this situation to block the calls. Do I call the police, and charge them with harassement? This is ridicules!!!!

i know in parts of the USA, they have Don Not Call lists or something, but theres nothing here. (that I know of!) Does anyone have advise?

Wow, Lesley, how rude! I am shocked! Hmmmm, what would I do? Since you have the number, I would call the police and report it to them. If they can't do anything, which I would hope they could, I would call the number myself and give them an earful. Too bad you don't have Do Not Call lists. I hope you get it resolved. Let us know what happens.

Geeez.
I worked as a telemarketing company, but never was rude or pushed people. I hate that.

I found this do not call list for Canada as well as the US.

Here is another link

Hope this helps you somewhat.
I would just not answer the phone when you see that # or do not answer unless you know the #. That is what I do now.

Lesley, How rude of them. I would be very ticked off. Try calling your phone service and tell them what is going on. They should give you a 2 digit # you can press on your phone the next time they call and this will start taping the phone calls for you (just from that #) and it will also report it to the police. At least that is what SW bell does here in SA. I had a man calling me about once a month (no idea who he was), I think he got my name and # either through the computer or credit card auth. at a store. Anywhoo, I called the phone comp. and that is what they told me to do, but so far he has not called back. The last time he called DH try to talk to him but he just called DH a few names and hung up. Good luck to you.

thanks everyone.

Mel, I put our number on the do not call list.

I also called our telephone company, and they gave me the code I punch in when these morons call me. Then the phone company tracks them, and after 3 reports recorded, a report is sent to the police for harassment.

Hopefully this takes care of it!
