thinking of trying a mothers day out

My daughter, Aspen, is almost 2 and extremely shy. It is hard to keep scheduled playdates every week with kids her age. Also she is rarely ever away from me. My family doesn't live close and I don't have any close friends in the area that I would feel comfortable leaving her with. I know she needs to develop coping skills so I was thinking of trying a mothers day out program a couple days a week. I just wanted to know any thoughts on the matter. Also, if you live in the Rockwall, TX area and have a child around 2 let's meet up! lol :) I'm so nervous about leaving her with someone I don't know. Even when we go to a playgroup or playdate she clings to me like crazy unless we are outside where it doesn't feel so crowded to her. Anyway, thanks for any input.

You might want to try a couple hours first before you try a whole day, for your sanity.

Tami, I hope you don't feel like I'm stepping on your toes here. I tried the link, but it's actually matchingmoms.org (not .com). No biggie. Thanks for the tip, though!! :)

And while we're on this subject... I live near Green Bay, WI, if there's anybody here nearby - please email me!!

Thanks for the tips. I have gone to matchingmoms.org and have met a few mothers from there. One had to go back to work and another I became friends with, but our daughters have completely different personalities and pretty much ignore eachother. I am meeting another mom from there next week so I hope I can begin to line up playdates that people will actually keep. There just seem to be no stay at home moms around here that have kids my daughters age.

Hi, Jessie. I'm in Coleman, about 40 minutes north of GB. They're putting in a new highway, so it's a much nicer drive now. Where do you live now? The winters are okay, I guess. I don't like it too hot, but I like all four seasons, so it's a trade-off. We're looking at moving to Baltimore, MD, in a few years. Just a nice place to live, close (but not too close) to DH's family, MUCH bigger city. Coleman has 830 people. That's it. And this is the town I went to high school in. Yikes! (Don't even get me started on why I'm back here. Big ol' can of worms, and most of them bite...) So, anyway. Where are you now? Why did you move?

Hey, Jessie! No, I haven't been to those places. Growing up my parents only went from Coleman to GB every 3-4 months, sometimes only every 6-8 months if they could get away with it. (Waaaay sheltered. My mom would LOVE to be a recluse...and she's working on it. But I won't go there and spew my rage about that
