For those who care to know...

First, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, posts & emails. It means so much to know most of you took the time out of your busy day to think of us, or pray for my FIL, when it seems so insignificant. I love you all.

Secondly, thank GOODNESS, he does not have colon cancer, or any type of cancer. He was diagnosed with diverticulosis, and had a diverticular hemorrhage. I didn't know what that was, but my husband explained that some people--especially older individuals--get diverticula in their large intestine, which is like pouches (sorry if this is gross). A lot of times there's arteries involved, and they can rupture, and cause massive bleeding, even though that's pretty rare. That's what happened to my FIL. He lost a lot of blood, and they gave him a blood transfusion, and then an angiogram to see about his arteries. Michael got one of his good friends, who's a gastroenterologist, to handle the case; but of course, he has to be all involved too, much to my telling him to back off and let others take care of it for once, LOL!! They had my FIL in ICU 2 nights, and Michael spent every night with him, sleeping in the On Call room at the hospital, and then working all day the next day. His sisters were also there during the day, and his brother and his wife have now come from out of state for the weekend, and are staying at my FIL's house to help him, as he was released this afternoon from the hospital.

Needless to say, this was very stressful for Michael, who just lost his mom not too long ago to cancer. I have not seen my husband this stressed out in a long time. He is not one to stress easily, but this did it!! He also lost a patient to an overdose a few nights ago, and that didn't help his emotional state.

We are a very close-knit family, and major illness with any member of the family is very hard and everyone's very invloved. . . Typical Italians?? LOL!

Thanks again for your prayers and concern.

Sofia

I'm glad it was nothing very serious, and that he was able to get treated, I'll pray that he has a fast recovery, now your DH needs a vacation so he can live(sp?) all that stress behind.
