Tips for going into Labor?
| Tue, 11-01-2005 - 3:16pm |
Ok,
I would appreciate anyone's tip to put me into labor, haha. I want it to happen naturally and I'm almost there, 3 cm dilated, 70% effaced, I feel like I just need an extra little push. I've been trying sex, walking up & down stairs, and walking..anything else I should be doing?:)

Sex and walking are the big ones. There's always the old drinking cod liver oil (I think) one...but I've never tried it, and have heard that all it does is cause diahreah and cramps, that some poeple swear are contractions, but all it is, is thier body wreching to get it out lol.
Woman in family swear by eating greasy chinesse food and laughing alot...again, not tried by me, but the gals in my family swear by it lol.
Hang in there Kate. You're almost there!!!
Just some advice to everyone do NOT take cod liver oil for labor induction, you could poison yourself with vitamin D! Okay I think Lesley meant Castor Oil which some women swear does bring on labor. lol
Here are a few websites I found about it....

ok Traci & Mel, please excuse the hat, but this is urgent!!!
KATE & EVERYONE ELSE:
NEVER drink castor oil to induce labor... it can cause meconium to pass into the amniotic fluid and be ingested by the baby (besides, all it does is cause stomach cramping
No worries about the hat...yeah I just read that on one of the sites I posted. I have a few friends who actually used it with success but but funny enough I realized that all of them had c-sections and I wonder if there is a correlation? It seems the universal idea of either nipple stimulation or sex is widely accepted as safe.
Traci
thanks soo much for the websites! I really DONT want to be induced with pitocin, so, hopefully the things I am trying helps me a little more :)
