Toddler ADD anyone?

I know it's typical for a toddler to be a little rambunctious, but my daughter is over the top. NOTHING can hold her attention for longer than about 5 minutes, and even w/ that, she's doing other things too.. NOt even food will hold her attention for long. She will be 3 in January, and I'm seriously thinking she has ADD. I read about it on the internet, but her Dr. says that they don't do anything for add in such a young child. It honestly makes me sick thinking of pumping her little veins w/ chemicals, etc, but It also gives me a sense of calmness, knowing that she's more comfortable w/ herself. She gets into trouble a LOT at home, and it seems like it's stuff she can't eally control. I'm not being easy on her, and just saying "oh, she can't help it," but I do feel sorry for her if she has this ADD, and she really can't control herself. I have ADD, I'm sure of it, or anxiety (on medications right now to find out) and I'm wondering what I should do for her.

Have you heard of a toddler on ADD meds?

Some kids have more energy than others. I know there is a name for it, and books to help the parents through it, but I just cannot remember the name.

My friend has a child like that. What she and her hubby have done is to enroll this child in all the various sport activities so he can get out his energy. Something to consider.

I think the nice term is "spirited". I have one of these children and it can be a challenge. I knew from the time he was in utero that I was in trouble : ) I agree that it helps to get them involved in activities or just go to the park or someplace they can run free. Trying to confine a spirited child can be a losing battle. I don't think it's a good idea to label such a young child with ADD. They may go thru life thinking that's what they have when really they were just an overly active and curious todder. Try to look at the positive side...they've got alot of energy, ambition, personality...whatever. It may be very frustrating for you but it's not necessarily a negative thing.
