Vacation worries

Hey, I already posted this on the potty training board but I thought I would ask y'all about it too. We are leaving for a 3 day stay at the beach Monday. From where we live it is about 290 miles. I'm worried about how this is going to affect DS. Not only how it will affect potty training, but if it will just completely tire him out. He's 2.5. We did go on a family weekend last month and he did fine. I took his training seat and his potty seat with us and he went to the potty in the hotel,he even got a kick out of it. But that was for one night and we didn't go as far from home. I wasn't crazy about this idea to start with,it was DH's idea. I know he means well,we are all burned out and I admit a break would be nice before the baby comes in September. But I can't get excited because I am so worried about my little boy. I don't want to mess with him. I want to make it as much like home as I can. Do y'all think that a almost 3 year old can handle a trip like this? It's just for three days and then we come home. We took him all the way to Cincinnati last year to see the Wiggles. Which for us is about 400 miles. He did good until about the last night, then he woke up crying. But we stayed alot longer(6 days) and we switched Hotels. That won't be the case this year. Plus DH says that he is a year older and is more equipped to handle things. When we ask him if he wants to go to the beach he says yes. What can I do to keep him balenced and on routine.

TIA,

Holly

i personaly think taking your kids out of their norm, makes them more balanced and able to handle any situation.. we have been taking our girls on long vacations since they were 2... even to florida , which is a two day drive for us.. 18 plus hours in the car..they still napped, they still ate, and they had a blast. they easily adapt to new situations with out alot of problems... they are very scheduled kids, which actualy makes it easier, because no matter where we are, or what we are doing, they napped at 2pm........ even in a grocery cart....dont worry so much. and try to have fun with him while he is little. this time only comes around once. and once that baby comes along, you might not get to do stuff like this for a LOOONG time...

Children are more flexible than we think. I bet he will do just fine. My and I allow our children even 7 year old to sleep with us on vacation, this helps them alot, because they feel more secure, and us to.

Have fun!
