want to start potty training but how?

i'm ready to start Xavier on potty training but i'm not sure how to go about it...we got the potty and he's gone a few times...but i don't think he understood the concept...which is probably normal for an 18 month old...but i guess it bothers me when i see other children his age going and saying the word potty...now i know every child is different...but i just wonder what i may be doing wrong that he's not mastering it....i asked his ped. about it tuesday and she said that he shows signs of hyperactivity so getting him to focus is going to be a problem which could cause more problems for the potty...anyone have any tips or advice?...so far i sit him on the potty mornings and evenings...right after he eats...turning on baby einstein and having him sit while watching...any other ways i can get him to start trying?..i also bought pull ups...if that helps at all...thanks!

Hi DeShanna,
My dd will be 2 in a week, and I havent started potty training yet lol. She just doesnt seem interested. She never lets us know when shes wet, or dirty. She also shows no interest in us using the potty lol. I guess I will be starting soon, so I have no advice for you. Good luck! Let us know what works for you!
DeShanna, I wish I could give you some advice but to be honest I don't remember how we potty trained our girls. I think we just would keep asking them if they have to go potty and just sit them there. But from what I hear boys might be different. So if you find out something good let me know for my ds. I'll be going through that before you know it.
