The Weekend Was So Slow! Why?

So what's up with the board, folks??? We had over 200 posts a couple of days ago but Sunday we have 13?!?! So sad, I must say. So I'm curious what kept you all away. Tell me how your weekend went.
We had Nikki's family birthday celebration on Sunday. The ils and my mom and sister were here. Dh and fil worked on that monstrocity of a swingset from 10am to 9pm, taking breaks only long enough to eat and watch present opening. Hope his back isn't killing him tomorrow. Had fried chicken for lunch and pizza for dinner. The cake was an icecream cake from Graeters. Mmmmmmm. So much for my diet. I'll be hitting the treadmill tomorrow.
Dd was very pleased with the loot. She got her Jess American Girl doll and 6 outfits to go with it. And a kayak for the doll. I would like to go on record as saying I did not buy the kayak, the ils did. It is darned cute, though. The orr that goes with the boat makes swishing sounds, so it actually sounds like it's paddling water. I had as much fun dressing and playing with the dolls as she did, I think.
So tell me about your weekend!

Well, Tessa was sick with the stomach virus all day today. So 3/4 of my kids have had it! I hate to come back on here and post that we're still throwing up over here, but WHADDAYA KNOW?? She got miraculously better right before bed, and I had a hard time settling her down! Was this the kid who had a fever all day?? This virus seems to be short-lived but very virulent!!
I guess I don't always get on the board on the weekends because DH is generally home on the weekends (the perks of having seniority in his job), but he is at work on an overnight tonight. . . So here I am!! Not that I couldn't post when he's around, but we tend to do family stuff, run errands together, etc.
Yesterday Matthew had karate and a birthday party to go to, so that took up time. It was the one day in between viral hits when no one was throwing up ;) I also got some shopping done for our upcoming trip (alone! What bliss!!). And yesterday evening the next door neighbors joined us on our deck for drinks, and then when they left DH and I had a Date Night at home again, so I was busy doing the Romance Thing.
So Justin (my 4 year-old) is the only one of my kids NOT to have gotten sick yet, and DH and I are still fine (hopefully we have immunity to this one. We often do, and it's just the kids who get the colds/pukes, etc). I'm hoping if anyone else gets sick, they hurry up and do it, because we leave on vacation on Saturday for a week!

I think it is the time of year and the weather that makes the board slow on the weekends!

ITA!! I go through this once or twice/week, Laura. My DH has to work an overnight shift every 3 or 4 days or so, because they have to have at least one attending physician on call to oversee the residents and medical students. So they rotate. Totally messes up his sleep rhythm, not to mention how I don't sleep well--even after years of putting up with it. I know the feeling. Michael is at work tonight, and here I am trying to make myself sleepy. I'll hear every noise all night long. . .
How nice that you have a pool. Michael wants to put one in, but I want to wait until the girls and Justin are a little older. I'm too scared of them drowning. We belong to a swim club in the Summers that gives them swimming lessons. That's good enough for me for now.
BTW, how's your DD feeling? I've been thinking about you!
Sofia
Yeah I think I woke up 3x last night, each time I swore I heard something, LOL!

Well I'm still fine, but now DH is sick. He came home at 3 AM sooooo sick!! When he left for work at 9 he was fine! So while I heard every sound in the house from 9 - 3, I woke up to him getting sick which was even worse!! As tired as I was, I got up to help him because he was just so sick and I felt bad for him!
Thanks for asking about us. I have had enough of this already!! This is a BAD virus to have gotten Michael sick. He *never* gets sick to his stomach--I think it's been years!! So I'm fully expecting to be sick any moment here. So far only Justin and I have not gotten it! And we leave for vacation on Saturday, so I wish we would just both hurry up & throw up already :P
I'm so glad your DD is better. I will be thinking of her & praying for her with her surgery. Is it out-patient, or are they going to hospitalize her? What time is it on Wednesday? Please keep us posted.
Sofia
DD's surgery is outpatient and we won't know the time until Tuesday evening.
