Hey ladies! I missed all of you so much!!!!
We got home last night, and let me tell you, I am TIRED! LOL
We had a wonderful time though... even if we did have to go to grandma's funeral. We basically turned the trip into a vacation, which we all really needed.
When we finally got out the door last Thursday, it was already late afternoon. We drove to Monroe, LA (where the humidity made you feel wet all over constantly... yuck). Friday morning we got up and drove into Georgia. We actually stayed in Newnan, since my BIL had done some work there and knew it was a pretty good part of town. We took the kids swimming as soon as we got to the hotel so we could relax some.
The funeral was a simple graveside service (closed casket), as per grandma's wishes. It was really sweet, and was a celebration of her life which was just what she deserved. As much as we are going to miss her, we were all so happy for her. Afterwards we went to the Varsity in Atlanta with all of Kyle's family and had a great time visiting.
Sunday we went to Kyle's aunt & uncle's house on his mom's side, and a lot of his family was there. They fixed enough food to feed an army, and it was soooo good. We ate all day LOL.
Monday my FIL paid for us to go to the Georgia Aquarium (which everyone needs to see if they get a chance). It was absolutely incredible!!!!!
Kyle's brothers and their families all went home to Utah on Tuesday morning, and his dad left to drive home. We left to head up to TN, and stopped in Kennesaw, GA for a while and the Civil War Battlefield National Park. We also stopped at the Civil War & Locomotive museum, but we didn't have the time or money to go through it, but the man there was nice enough to let us see the train engine which the kids loved.
We drove up to Murfreesboro and spent the night with Kyle's aunt, then left the next morning to go to Arkansas. We spent the day with my grandparents, then went to my mom's that night. Kyle and the girls rode the ATV with my stepdad, and I got to relax and spend time with mom. My stepbrother, aunt, and cousin came over friday night to see us, and I ended up cutting my neice's hair for her. She's 10 months old, and she and Brayden had the best time playing together.
It was a wonderful trip, and we were also blessed in that Grandma had left in her funeral plans that she wanted to pay for our hotel while we were in Georgia. We had a great trip, the kids did surprisingly well, and we had forgotten how much we loved being there.
We're all glad to be home though so we can sleep in our own beds LOL
I have a lot of posts to catch up on, plus we still need to unload the car, unpack, wash the dirty laundy, and get things taken care of around here before Kyle goes back to work tomorrow.
