What are you reading?

I am curious what everyone is reading. I love to read, but will admit my favorite books are romance novels...I know, I know, not exactly mind bending but I love them! For me they do not make chick fliks fast enough and to me the books are just like that, except better in my opinion. I also read mainstream novels. Oprah book club types.

Right now I am reading a book by Linda Howard called "To Die For". I just started so that it what I am reading tonight since Dh has to work tomorrow :(

Anyone have any good books they are reading? I am a pretty quick reader and If I start reading my book at 8:30 (it is 374 pages) then I will be finished by 12:00 midnight.

Thanks

Traci

I am a Book worm! I finished all the Karen Kingsbury series except one that I just started. I also joined this book club and you get 5 books for $1 and then you have to buy 4 more full price in the next two years. But when you join now you get a free book and then you have an option to buy a book for $7.99 so you only have to buy 3 books through out the next two years. It only took a week for me to get my books I got a horror novel The House Next Door and a thriller mystery The Girl Next Door and a romance mystery Kiss Me While I sleep. They all sound so good I don't know where to start. (The other four were for DH) The greatest part about this club is that the company prints them themselves so when you would pay $30 for a book it only costs you $15-$20 It's really great I got those 7 books for $28.83 (the shipping and handling was $17 because there were so many) If you spend a lot of money on books

If you are an avid reader, I recommend you go to www.basbleu.com to order their catalog. It is a really interesting collection of books ... the catalog is a great read and it's full of ideas for good books. I don't know how they arrive at the various selections, but I never put down that catalog without thinking there are many titles in it that I can't wait to read ...

After doing a bit of research this past Christmas to find books for my mom (who is an great reader and belongs to two book clubs), I came up with the following reading list for myself this year. I have posted links here for each title on both Amazon and Bas Bleu ... so you can judge for yourself whether you think these titles might be of interest to you. I'm trying to read one per month and I just finished the first, Almost French. I really liked it ... it was like a little vacation between the covers.

PS I've read a lot of good books lately, but one of the best (non-fiction) was called, Ship Of Gold And The Deep Blue Sea ...

Great Idea for creating a reading list for yourself! I will do the same and put the books on my calendar.

I have been meaning to read this for a while now. I am glad you mentioned it. I find so many books I want to read that I somtimes forget them.

I also wanted to reccomend...Wild Women: Crusaders, Curmudgeons, and Completely Corsetless Ladies in the Otherwise Virtuous Victorian Era
by Autumn Stephens ...I loved this book! Very funny

I love to read too! The library is my second home : ) Right now I'm reading "Always the Bridesmaid" by Whitney Lyles. I've been homebound with sick kids the past 2 weeks so I've read several other good ones too:
Say When - Elizabeth Berg (her other books are good)
Shopaholic takes Manhattan - Sophie Kinsella (sequel to Confessions of a Shopaholic - also cute)
The Things We Do For Love - Kristin Hannah (great author)
Best Enemies - Jane Heller (great author)

I just finished reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. It was good - I enjoyed it. I only get to read for maybe 30 minutes to an hour each day (combined times mind you) so it took me about a week maybe to read it.

Now I need a new book to read. Hopefully I'll get some good ideas from the other replies!

Thanks for the recommendation "Wild Women" ... that sounds like something I would enjoy. I'll put it on my list and let you know what I think!

Let me know what you think of Reading Lolita ... or any of the others. It would be fun to compare notes. I have always thought that I would enjoy a book club ... except that, unlike my mom, I have a hard time reading books from a list. I love to read, but I really remember suffering in high school through all those required books. I ended up loving some of them ... but others ... UG! My mom can plow through anything. Not me!

I used to share books with my best bud from college. She was alwayd good for recs and for sharing a really good one if you stumbled onto it. But unfortunately, our friendship drifted once I had kids. I really miss that.

Happy reading!

I posted this below, but thought it might fit better here.

For all of you moms who love to read, there's an author named Jane Green who is absolutely the best! She's smart, funny and witty as can be. My girlfriends and I did a book exchange with all her books and we powered thru them. Great reads. A couple of her books are Jemima J, Babyville, Mr. Maybe and Bookends. I think there's one more but I can't remember it.
