What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Going out of town? First Thanksgiving with you cooking? What traditions do your family still follow?

Just curious.

plans or 'dreams'..?
LOL
I'd like to go for a weekend vacation down to the islands or even to a resort nearby. Which we may do!!

I overdosed on traditions when my DH convinced me that we should create a big formal meal & tons of cooking for the holidays --which were right after we got married!

Not how I wanted to celebrate becoming a newlywed.

Especially as we weren't together for years or anything before we got married.

It was all new our being married & I do NOT want to ever have us both get up at 4 am to start the turkey again.
I'm into new ways to celebrate and not at all about that cooking stuff....
It would be different if everyone got together & cooked together from the different families.

It's a big secret what we are doing for Thanksgiving....but our "normal" Thanksgiving traditions with my husband's family is watching football, "Christmas Vacation" or "Raising Arizonia", and playing cards.

Thanksgiving is an all day event at my mothers house. Unfortunetly most of the cooking has fallen to me, so next year when we move to a bigger place I am probably going to insist everyone come to my house.

We usually start out with a little fishing at the family pond in the morning. During the afternoon we play our annual flag football game. We usually eat around 3:00 and of course every hour after that! :) lol

Somewhere in there the guys might sneak off to watch football. Then we all watch some sort of Christmas movie...this year we will probably watch Elf.

I am going to my FIL house for Thanksgiving, I only have to make a side dish. I love it. I usually fix Thanksgiving dinner for my sister and her family. I will she her on Sat instead this year, so I get out of cooking. Love it, love it, love it. LOL

We will be going to my parents home. We do this every year.
We play games, drink, eat and have a great time.
I have yet to cook a Thanksgiving at my home and hope to not have to as long as my parents are around :)
My mom makes the best Turkey dinner.

Sadly, we won't really have a Thanksgiving this year. We're Americans living in Canada so the kids will be in school and my husband will be at work (they celebrate Thanksgiving here in October). Normally there's lots of family and lots of food, but we decided not to travel this year since we'll be there in a few weeks for Christmas. So, maybe I'll throw together some turkey sandwiches if my husband can get home in time for dinner.
Hope you all have a great Turkey Day : )
