What did you give up to stay at home with your kids? I think the most important things in the world is if a child can have a stay at home parent there for them. I think they need it growing up in their toddler years. And they need it jsut as much in the morning before and after school as well. I knew that when I had my first child I had to open a dayhome to stay home with my son. There was no way I was going to go to work and leave him at a strange place all day long. I just couldnt do it. But back then I needed to work. We are now comming to a point where me working is not a must. My #2 is due at the end of Sept though he/she will be here Aug, and with Alex starting kindygarden I feel I need to turn to being here just for my kids and not others. Dont get me wrong I love my job most days, but my family and home does suffer. For example my family has benn hit with cold and glue all winter as the daycare kids keep bringing it in. Really there hasnt been an end in sight and my poor son just got pink eye last week as well (brought in from a lovely daycare kid). MY biggest fear is that my newborn will be hit with so many sicknesses. Maybe I am overacting.

My husband and I felt that if we were going to have children one of us was going to stay home,.. We both felt very strongly about it, I have a degree in English and a teaching certification but knew my true calling was being a mom.. Sure there are things we sacrifice in order for me to stay home, but we remind ourselves they won't know what they didn't have just that they had a mommy who was always home and a daddy who provided for us.. We own our home, and the kids have food in their mouths, clothes on their backs, that's all that matters!!
