What to do all day with...

my 2 year old.
I am running out of things to keep him and I busy during the day.
I try the outside thing, but he wants to play in the water and dirt and its just not happening.
I am too tired to run after him while he is out there.
We did chalk, but that does not last long and its too chilly still to go in the small pool I bought.

Any ideas?

I've got 2, two year olds. It's a royal nightmare to try to do things with them, by myself. So we do spend a lot of time in the backyard. It's closed in by a fence, so it's pretty safe to let them roam a bit.

They really like playing in their play pool. If it's not warm enough for that, I take out tupperware bowls of water. They like "washing" their toys and dumping it out, and pouring it, etc... Forget spending money on a water table.
Also, Keep a hose nearby for refills.

You can take the chalk out there too, bubbles, even flour is fun to play with. Take food and drinks outside too. Just hose everything down when done. Keeps your house cleaner too.

Best Wishes

Mel, I personally dont have the energy for this, but most of my friends let thier kids take big peices of paper and give them finger paints, either inside or outside. They love it. What about tv lol? Its my personal babysitter lol. sorry Im not much help, I have run out of creative ways to entertain Belle as well. I was hoping to snag some ideas from your thread.

Mel I have lots of ideas but I tried to make them ones you can just supervise and not have to participate in much since you are probably tired from your pregnancy. These are all ideas I have actually done...some with my pre-k classes and some with my kids.

If you have a sand or water table fill it instead with large noodles. Give spoons shovels and small toys to hide in the noodles. The noodles are easy to clean up!

Hide Easter eggs.

"play in the water and dirt and its just not happening."

Why not? Seriously, the weather is getting great, put him in a bathing suit and let him go. Hose him off before you go inside. Or get a sprinkler and let him play. A little dirt isn't gonna harm him.

The reason for no dirt right now is because getting him in and bathing him is a challenge considering I am 32 weeks pregnant. I just don't have the energy to bathe him 2 times a day.
I would not mind also, but its cold for a bathing suit right now and I don't need to take a chance with him catching another cold or being vulnerable in getting sick.

I think it is time for summer camp registration and mother's morning out. You need a break. The last think he and the new baby needs is a mom who is so worn down that she can't take care of herself.

ok well that was rude.

no where did Mel say she was so worn down that she couldn't take care of herself.

It's very difficult taking care of 2 kids while being pg, and Mel does it alone since her dh is gone most of the time with his work. Personally I think she's a very strong person to do what she does.

Not meant to be rude. I know how hard it is for her. That is why I suggested some options that can help ease her burden.

Being a strong mom doesn't just mean sucking it up when you are tired. It means that you know your limits and get help when needed.

I am sure that her son would love to go to camp and do things all day with friends.
