What do you do for fun?
| Thu, 04-12-2007 - 3:23pm |
I'm trying to figure out what else there is to do during the day? My kids are very good and while they nap I like to get dressed up for the day. I love to play with my hair or makeup and just keep myself looking as nice as possible. I'm just wondering if other stay at home moms take time to look nice or do you all look like the ladies in my neighborhood?

Right now that I'm preg I mostly rest when Emily takes her nap, but before I was preg I used to clean, scrapbook, read, and do laundry when Em was napping.
I always do my hair and makeup daily. I wouldn't dream of leaving the house without making myself presentable. I find it sad that so many women let themselves go, and blame it on the fact that they are a mom. I want to look good for myself, and for my husband.
My kids are well behaved as well, and if they act up, I hand them over to the nanny! Between the kids and the house, I love to shop, and also enjoy massages, and manicures. I also meet up with 3 friends every week and do lunch. It's nice to get unwind, and catch up on who has recently suffered from a bad botox mishap!
well....I'm not sure what the women in your neighbourhood look like...but, I dont often get myself ready daily. In fact, I avoid it at all cost. I hardly go out, so I really dont care.
As far as things that I do, I take care of the kids, sometimes clean, I come here alot, and really, there's so many things to do around the house, that I dont have much spare time.
I guess it would have to depend on what the other moms in your neighborhood look like.....
During the day I play with the kids, spend time outside in the garden, scrapbook, clean up the house and I love to read.
I didn't used to, but I started getting depressed and noticed that the only presentable non haggarish thing I had on was my underpants! So I started wearing make up and putting on jeans at least. I started tossing dirty shirts into the laundry basket instead of wearing them again until it crossed from dirty to filthy. Basically, I dragged myself out of Frump Syndrom. My mood picked up, and I noticed that even if I didn't go anywhere, I saw me and I wanted to not hate the wench staring back at me in the mirror.
Welcome to the boards btw!
I don't wear makeup about 1/2 the time. Sometimes I'll just put on mascara and earrings, and nothing else. Personally, I'm REAL comfortable in sweats, jeans, T shirts, scrub tops, etc. I never really have been one to get very fancy, but once in a while I admit it's fun.
As far as what I do all day? I have 4 kids. They keep me pretty busy. I also go to school, and to a Twins' Club.
well I don't wear make up every day usually though but some days I don't even bother to shower just throw on some sweats and go to the computer...that is my lazy days but usually I shower and put on mascara and lipcloss and dress in jeans and a shirt so at least I'm dressed up for the dryer :D jk
as for what I do all day long...I do have a newborn so the only things to do between bfing burping and changing her is a little iVillage time :D and some chores...ohh and latté...

Why would you not want to get yourself ready? I don't get it. I would never let my kids see me a mess or God forbid my husband. He married me a certain way and I want to keep myself in tip top shape.
