What do you do that helps?

Hello everyone!

I am new to this message board as far as posting goes, but have lurked from time to time.

I live in Texas and have a 2 year old DD and another on the way (ultrasound says 85% sure it is another girl) due on Sept. 8.

I have been staying home ever since my little girl was born and have no desire to go back to work.

My dilemma is that I have a lack of motivation at home. I spend my days just kind of muddling through trying to keep my DD busy, and when they are over, I feel like I should have done more, not just for my family, but for myself.

There is no one putting pressure on me, but myself. My husband doesn't require anything out of the ordinary and is happy with dinner and clean clothes. He doesn't comment if I don't clean the house.

I guess I am really wondering. How you organize your days? Do you have a schedule? What are the ways you save money for your family? Do you work at home? If so, what do you do to maintain a balance? How do I build my self esteem?

I have thought of starting a business, but if I can't even get motivated to do the things that really need to be done around the house, how could I run a business? Of course I do feel that my children and husband's needs come before the business, as all of our bills are paid and any extra would be just that, extra. I think it would help my confidence and happiness if I was able to start something, however small it might be.

I guess I am just bored and need to jump start things. I am sure alot of moms have felt the way I do and was just wondering how they got over it.

Oh, and one more thing. I know I am in for a major change come Sept. Does anyone have advice for preparation for the arrival of the second child and how to deal with DD's emotions?

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any input. Believe me when I say it is greatly appreciated!

Lanie

the one thing that keeps me sane and energized is exercising I work out 5 times a week for about an hour without doing so i feel sluggish all day

I agree with the above post that exercise can be very energizing. Something I make sure to do is to get up a couple of hours before my kids. I do yoga and have a cup of cofee. I read the bible and watch a little tv and surf the internet. I also do a brain puzzle in the morning.

I can't say I am bored though, but my children are homeschooled so I guess this helps keep me mentally stimulated. Maybe something during the day that is a challenge could help you. We do go bye a schedule but I do not think it would be of help for the everyday sahm.

I save money for my family by careful budgeting. Dh and I have a rule that we do not buy any extras until the end of the month and all the bills are paid. We also recently had our Mini-van break down and had to buy a cash car. It was a blessing in disguise. We paid 500 dollars for a car. It is older but it runs in perfect condition. It really taught us that buying with cash is very smart. We are saving to buy a newer, bigger vehicle. We used to pay 350 dollars for our car payment plus 153 dollars for insurance. Now we have no car payments and py 40 dollars for insurance...lol. I am big on clipping coupons and really think this can help save money as well. My Sunday paper puts out a ton of coupons that I save. Also I always read my local grocery store ad and plan our meals around what is on sale. We try to make sure our pantry is always well stocked so that we can buy more fresh fruits and meats every week.

I do not work from home now but I have before. It is best to get organized in my opinion before starting something up.

I think you can build your self-estem by feeling good about what you are doing. Maybe giving yourself a challenge everyday and completing that challenge could help. Have fun with your kids...laughter can be a great builder!

This board is a great place to come everyday :) We will try and keep you on your toes...lol

Lanie, welcome to the board! As far as your dd and adjusting to the baby. Just take the cues from her. Don't force the baby on her.
