I'm embarrassed to admit this but last night was really the first time in probably years that I actually made dinner for my family. Remember, I'm the recovering workaholic!!
I made grilled chicken breasts, steamed zuchinni, and fettucinni noddles. I actually set the table, lighted some candles, and my husband and I had wine. I usually give my son "kid" food like grilled cheese, Lunchables, etc but I decided that I need to feed him better so I decided he could eat exactly what we were eating (minus the wine, of course!). You know what? He ate everything!!!!!!!!!! This was the first time we haven't felt rushed to inhale dinner, and that we all sat down together at the same time to eat. We have a new rule that there is no TV in the evenings, so I put on some nice soothing music in the background as we ate. It was wonderful, we all talked together and had a great time. I even made a Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert (the boxed mix kind - hey, I'm not Martha Stewart yet).
Thanks for the reminder! I usually set dinner out in the fridge if it is meat to defrost and I forgot to see what we are having. I need to go look! lol
