Just curious...
I am a varoucious reader and can gobble up a couple of books a week.
My favorite are romance novels, I have been reading them since i was thirteen.
My favoties are historicals and action adventure.
I just finished "Hot Pink" by Susan Johnsan. It is a true guilty pleasure and I read it in one day. It is a little sex in the city, which I normaly would not enjoy but is a true Romance with guaranted happy ending. It is pretty steamy so caution if you don't like that sort of thing.
Today though I am starting main stream novel by Melinda Haynes called "ChalkTown" it is a novel about a sixteen year old boy who sets out to discover why the people in his small mississippi town only communicate through chalkboards on their front porches. Oh by the way the author is the best selling author of "Mother Of Pearl" will let you know how it goes.
To our CL Mel ..I thought it would be fun to start our own book club on here...maybe pick a new genre and new member to pick the book every couple of months? And maybe a place for members to review any movies they've seen or books they read?

My husband bought me "The Care & Feeding of Men" by Dr. Laura-- I think that's a hint. He's reading it too, though, hoping to get some insight to me! :-)
I also bought "All the Days of Our Lives" by Alison Sweeney of Days of Our Lives. I admit it, I'm a closet watcher (when i get a chance which is once a month if I'm lucky!) :-)
However, it seems like I never have any time to read!

Book Club idea sounds great!

About Dr. Laura... just in case you hadn't heard.... she poses as a psychologist and family counselor but her actual education is in physiology, not psychology. Some people really love and benefit from her advice, but I'm not a big fan of the way she kind of.... works around the fact that she's not a psychologist.
I would LOVE a book club. I'm living in Norway so my access to english language books is limited to Amazon.com and their shoddy delivery times out of the country, but I'd really like to be in on that anyway!

I've read "The Devil Wears Prada" Lauren Weisberger (??) I think was the author. LOVED it! It was about an assistant to a famous fashion editor and her trials and tribulations during her first year in the job. VERY behind the scenes gossipy....
4 Blondes- Candace Bushnell (author of Sex in the City) Did not particularly like this book; a little too much for me. I've never watched Sex in the City but I imagine this book was more over-the-top than what I've heard of that show. The book is set up as four short stories, with no links to each other (except the characters are all blonde). Shallow and at sometimes hard to follow, but all in all it was an entertaining and quick read.
The Second Assitant-(Co-Authors can't remember names) Similar to Devil....but not as good. This one is set in Hollywood instead of New York. Kind of fluffy and no real character development. Again an entertaining and quick read.
As you can see I'm into the fictional gossipy, (pseudo) celebrity type, high society books. However I DO like mysteries as well. I did begin a book by Patricia Cornwell, "Blowfly". Did not have time to finish as the borrow period was only 7 days, but enjoyed the 5 or so chapters I read.
Also, a book club would be awesome! If we have a set deadline when to read our book by, that would be great! I do better when I have that deadline! lol Great idea! Thanks for thinking of it!
