I am gonna have to check out that book because my daughter would always go to bed at 6pm and get up around 7am with a 2-3 hour nap everyday. Since she turned 2 and will be 3 in April she does not want to go to bed till 9pm or later and only gets between 1 to 2 hours naps a day. She gets up around 8am. She is constantly yawning during the day saying I am tired then she is reved from about 6-9 pm. For a 2 1/2 year old to tell you that she is tired several times a day doesn't sound good. I guess I am gonna have to slowly up her bedtime till she gets to bed earlier.

Lesley,
My 19 mo. old son has pretty much the same schedule that your 19 mo. old has. Bed at 9, wakes at 9 and then takes a 2-3 hour nap.
The only difference I've ever noticed in his attitude is when we go out and do something active during the day vs. when we stay home and do pretty much nothing. When we go out, he is MUCH happier during the day than he is when we stay home. When we stay home, he's very crabby for much of the day. He gets the same amount of sleep every day, so I don't think his attitude has anything to do with how much sleep he's gotten.
I say, if it works for your child, then who's complaining? I've never been one for telling someone else that their child goes to bed too late or too early... because I'm not in their shoes. Every child and every family is different, and I think that if your child is getting the recommended amount of sleep for his/her age group, then... good. ;O)

Lesley,
Sounds like you're doing fine -- your daughter's getting lots of quality sleep and is happy. If you ever have a chance to take a peek through the book, I think you'll find you're the minority. Most kids in his study here were up past 8:00, woke during the night. This behavior was stopped when they were put to bed earlier. It's a really interesting book even if you kids are perfect sleepers. Also, it's divided into age groups and goes through adolescents. Glad to hear you have a healthy, happy sleeper!

P.S. I live in Pennsylvania and my husband recently travelled to Vancouver. He couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was!!
