i'm FINALLY starting my xmas shopping-YAY! we got the tree up yesterday and now it's time to start sticking stuff under it, so i thought we could all share ideas of what's hot, what's not, and how much mulah you're wasting on the little buggars this year :D
my ds just turned 2 this month so he's already overloaded with toys, so i think i'm going to go a little light on him this year. i'm getting him one of those little 3 wheeled scooters (if he's tall enough) a t-ball set, and some clothes and maybe a spiderman lights and sounds trike. that's about it for him.
for dd i'm getting a leapster because she loved her leapad right to death and it doesn't work anymore, but we got a solid year of enjoyment out of it and i think the same will be true of the leapster. i don't usually spend 80 bucks (CHOKE!) on one toy but i think in this case it's worth it. hopefully some other family members will help out with the cartridges so it won't hurt so bad. so a leapster, a baby choo-choo (thanks to all the commercials), a soft 'my little pony,' and a v-tech talking globe are what she's getting from us, and maybe some dollar store toys and stocking stuffers.

for MOI, all i want is a digital camcorder, probably a handy cam. i want it by xmas so i can record the kids opening their presents, but i don't know if we'll have the $$, it may have to wait until after xmas. oh, and a smart coffee pot that wakes up before i do and makes my coffee, i really want that :D

dh already bought himself his xmas present (a hideously big tv) so all he's getting is one of those plug and play games with all the 80 nintendo classics, and maybe a fryer if i have any $$ left over.

so what are ya'll getting? how much do you usually spend? do you and dh buy for each other or is it just the kids?

Hi Clarity,

I have no idea how I ended up on this board (what with being AT WORK and all) I must have clicked something incorrectly, but wanted to say Hi when I saw your name.

I'm over 1/2 way done with my Christmas shopping - mostly educational items for dd.

Well, this year is going to be a little tight.
We don't have much money, but we are getting as much as possible for the kids.
My husband and I are not getting each other anything and I am making most of what we are giving to family.
Andrew has a tank in layaway that is bigger then a powerwheel. It is so awesome. It is remote controlled. Makes sounds, moves and all sorts of neat things.
Dalton is getting musical toys. He loves things with music and rhythm. And he is also getting peek a block toys.
That's about it for us.

lol about running into the sahm board while working, but you know it's always good to 'see' you 'round :)

i actually don't wake up with the birds and start my xmas shopping the day after thanksgiving, but i do refuse to officially start until then. i just get really irritated when stores start puting their xmas stuff out directly after or sometimes even before halloween. for some reason it really bugs me :P
i keep my eye open from about october on, and i usually know what i want to get everyone long before i actually start shopping, so it's just a matter of picking it up. being on the biweekly paycheck system like you we pay rent out of one check and bills out of the other, but we try to budget things so we're a paycheck ahead by the check before xmas. ie, we're paying rent and all the Dec. bills out of today's paycheck, and then the next paycheck is strictly xmas. i actually like to do the whole traditional xmas shopping thing when the stores are playing sappy xmas music and santa's there in the middle of the mall, i don't know why but i do. although i do go at the butcrack of dawn so i don't have to fight the crowds :) plus i only buy for my kids, one very close friend and her kids, and two friends in need that i'm buying for this year, so it's not like i'm breaking the bank. anyway, to each their own i guess.
i'm buying a lot of my stuff off amazon, they're not half bad this year! so far so good....

omg, 120 lbs?? you freaking ROCK!! i can't believe that, that's AMAZING!! if you don't get some new clothes i'm gonna have to start shopping for you too, lol.
yes, believe it or not i am a mall shopper, lol. but i wouldn't take tristan with me for love or money, ally is my shopping buddy we're actually planning on going this evening if dad gets home in time, i'm thinking we could both use a new pair of shoes :D
i don't buy much there, it's a little out of my price range, but i really do just enjoy going this time of year. if you have a little shopaholic with you and you're not in any kind of hurry it's actually kinda fun. there's a little jewelry shop in our mall that i need to hit as they have the most unique pendants for only 8$. i've had my eye on them for a month and i know two of the people i'm buying for will love them.
i worked in Belk (in customer service where they do giftwrap no less!) for 2 xmas seasons and even THAT wasn't enough to kill my holiday spirit. it was completely insane but for some sick reason i love it, lol. now dd and i just put on santa hats and do a mad dash to keep that money from burning a hole in our pockets :)
if you want to hear completely nucking futs, my ex and i used to shop and shop and get all the right things (even if we were completely broke we could manage a lot, we'd shop for xmas at goodwill and salvation army, lol) then open them all the day before xmas eve, then xmas eve we'd run out and shop till we dropped and completely restock the tree, this time usually with utter crap. we just thought it was really funny to be running around frantically on xmas eve!

We are getting dd a piano thingy with a mic and seat. She loves musical things. dh and I aren't exchanging gifts this year, we just bought a home, and the money will be bettter spent on that than things for us. We usually spend about $80-100 on dd overall. I can't wait for Christmas this year, dd was only 6 months old last Christmas, so she wasn't into it.

We celebrate Christmas in the religious way, and with Santa. I LOVE
