What's your typical day like?

OK - this may sound dumb, but I what's a typical SAHM day like for you? I am 100% new to this and am not too, too sure what to expect. I want to set up some type of schedule, but don't even know where to begin!!!
So what's your day like? Do you have a routine or just go with the flow?
I had such a demanding job where it was always go, go, go and deadlines and meetings ect... This is going to be way different for me. I am like the new intern that doesn't know know the ropes yet. Crazy isn't it?
But I am excited about this and just the thought of being able to take Noah to the pool and making dinner from scratch without rushing and using the microwave is something I really, really look forward to.

Josee,
We tend to be more go with the flow types, but we do have a loose routine for each day.
Josee you sound like me LOL
I love schedules & routines, but as you will quickly learn, toddlers don't always adhere to them very well... sometimes they do, but not always. I'd say just have a general plan & be flexible.
Our normal day goes like this:
I'm up between 4:30-5:30, feed the baby, get dressed, make coffee, throw in some laundry, etc (basically baby & me time)
get the kids up, dressed & fed
take Natalie to school, Kyle to work
run errands or come home & play/watch cartoons together
come home & feed the kids
plan dinner & prepare as much as possible
try to get them down for a nap... if that doesn't work, then more play time
pick up natalie from school (the kids usually sleep in the car if they didn't nap)
pick up kyle from work
come home & make dinner
bath, story time
bed time
Hi. Welcome to stay-at-home-mommyhood! Glad you could join us. ;-) Like the other moms said we pretty much go with the flow too. It's hard to stick to a schedule with a baby/toddler, except for the usual stuff of sleep, eat, poop, etc. kwim. Anyway, Jacob wakes up between 8:30 and 9:30am. I fix him a cup of milk, turn on PBS and change his diaper. He usuaally watches tv some and plays some for about 30 min and then I feed him breakfast. He plays some more, and I either play w/him or try to get some housework done. Now that the weather has cooled off some, we've been taking walks to the park before lunch. Then there's lunch, more play time/tv time, and then naptime, usually around noon or so, sometimes later.
Then I get on here or do some other surfing, or usually take a shower, then eat lunch, if I hadn't already, and maybe some more housework/laundry. Fingers crossed, he sleeps for a good 2 to 3 hours, but lately he's been taking very short naps. Then we either run errands or play or watch more tv. Just whatever the day feels like. DH comes home between 6:30 and 7, and before that I'm getting dinner ready. We have dinner, clean up, take him to the park or just have family time indoors, then bath time and bedtime, as early as 8pm(like last night) or as late as 11pm, but most nights it's closer to 9. If he goes down too early like last night he's up and down all night, it was a hard night last night.
It is good to have some routine though, especially before bed. Jacob is used to having his bath before bed and then lounging on the floor w/his bottle watching James Taylor on DVD, he's been doing that since he was 3 months old! That's his little routine before bed, last night he actually fell asleep on the floor with JT on!
I love staying at home. But it's not as laid back as most people think. You never feel like you can get everything done and there's always more than you thought. And it can be stressful sometimes, like trying to get dinner ready when you have a cranky toddler wanting you to hold him. I try to take it easy and know that not everything can or will get done and that's okay. We'll end up eating something if I don't get dinner ready or the clothes will somehow get washed but it may take a whole week! You get the idea. Hang in there and enjoy it!
