On Monday my computer crashed and my toaster oven caught fire. My computer is fixed thanks to my best friend's husband....The toaster oven is o.k. (I think.)
Tuesday was o.k.
Wednesday my truck was at the dealership all day because the horn broke, it needed an oil change, tires rotated, new fuel filter, and the transmission needed to be flushed and refilled....Not a big deal but sucked cuz they had my car from 9:30am to almost 5:30pm and I was at a friend's house all day.
Yesterday SUCKED! I went to pick up my computer at my friend's house and I stayed for about an hour while the kids played and we talked. Well, on the way home a lady pulls up beside me and yells to me that my truck is spilling gas all over the road. So I try to drive it through the intersection to the parking lot across the street but it would only go backwards (WHILE IN DRIVE) So I call DH and he and a couple of buddies from work come and move it out of the middle of the road. We then wait for an hour for the tow truck to take it back to the dealership. I call the dealership and they tell me they can't get to it until MONDAY and they can't give me a rental car because there aren't any available due to Hurricane Ivan. I was p*ssed! So DH called the mechanic at work (he works in construction....highway, bridges, major stuff like that) and the mechanic went to the dealership and looked at my truck. It took him 30 seconds to fix what was wrong with it and he drove it back to DH's office. I am still p*ssed though because my truck was absolutely fine until these morons touched it and now I am afraid to drive it (especially with the kids in the car and they were in the car yesterday when it happened.)
So anyway, not sure about today..It's only 8:30...LOL...The only thing that has sucked so far today is all 3 of my kids were up before 7am....UGH! BUT, we have a babysitter tonight and DH and I are going to go out to dinner ALONE! So I actually have something to look forward to.....
Well, I have been busy planning for Nick's b-day party. My baby is three! Today is his birthday but tommorow is his party. He is having a fire fighter party. I am making his cake, which is...yep you guessed it shaped like a fire truck! lol
We are painting a large refrigerater box to look like a fire house, and putting a peice of pvc pipe in front for the fireman's pole. We also make large cut outs out of foam board and taped them to our wagon for a fire truck. We bought everyone fire hats and the cutest fire egstinguisher candy's.
Hello, new here..... just got the info about this site from a friend... would love to get in on the chats. I have an 18 month ol, 8 year old, and an 11 year old.... LOVING being at home, but can relate to the stories on here!!! Dirty houses, trucks breaking down in intersections...... we just moved 850 miles from friends and family and the place I lived all my life. It is an awesome adventure, but feels a little lonely at times!!! Got in on a play group and made some friedns with some other women, but still at home a lot and would love to have people to chat with....... Hope to talk to people soon!!
I'm new to boards, so I'm not sure when to post or not. Sometimes, I feel there's just nothing going on ... just regular life!
Monday = Lunch with my MIL; spent time with children at an outdoor mall, walking around, rode a little train, checked the bookstore for Steven Pressfield's new book (not out yet)
Tuesday = Lunch with my best friend; bought fall clothes for the children
Wednesday = Essie's asthma check up; flu shots for the children
Thursday = Parent education/preschool class; violin lesson for me (*h*o*r*r*i*f*i*e*d* to discover that I have to do a solo piece at December's recital); made appointment for children to have a studio portrait done (MIL's early Christmas gift to us; they've not had a formal picture since Miguel was 3 mos. old)
In the middle of all this, I did all the housework, started reading Thomas Merton's "Seven-Storey Mountain", laundered (clothing, not money, LOL), etc.
I'm hanging in there... I've been sick for almost 3 weeks. I finally caved and went to the doctor on monday, but the meds don't seem to be helping. I still feel like crap :o(
I too have been busy working on birthday stuff. My oldest is turning 5 and wants a Lion King birthday. I hand-made the invitations with scrapbook paper & raffia, and they are finally ready to mail.
Yesterday was 2 hours of HELL at the JCPenney portrait studio. I took Hannah to get her 18 month old pics, and all she did for 2 hours was scream like I was trying to kill her. This is the kid who is happy and smiling when she's running 102 degree temp! She's ALWAYS in a good mood. I have never seen her throw such a tantrum! Natalie didn't help either. All she did was run all over the studio making noise, jumping up and down, and irritating everyone. Needless to say I finally just said FORGET IT and rescheduled for saturday morning. Natalie is NOT going with me LOL.
Anyone have any tips for getting an 18 month old to get her picture taken??? LOL
I'm here...I have had a really crappy week....
