Where will we be?

Well...where do I begin? A lot has been going on...that's why I haven't been around lately. We are traveling to Texas next week to find out if we want to transfer there with my dh's job. It's a place we haven't been to before, so we're a little nervous. I already asked TX mom's about it, got one response. That's not the issue...it's just that I've discovered how much housing is there, and now that I'm a sahm, we will only be qualifying on my dh's income. Not that we won't get something nice, but I guess I was hoping the cost of living would be LESS than where we live now. I even went online and did a city comparison between the city we live in now and the new city. I actually costs more to live there...ugh. So anyway, we'll be traveling with my ds, and who knows how that will go...I've traveled with ds by plane seems like a million times, but we'll be somewhere I will not have anyone to help all day in the day b/c my dh is going to work at the company there for the week. I will be meeting with a realtor and seeing houses one day. I'm also going to check out the city itself, shopping, children's places (like a science spectrum, parks, etc.) Good news is that it's a bigger city, so there is more to do and probably more doctors to choose from, and it has a lake. It's very very very super hot, though, esp. during the summer which is probably when we'll be moving. Luckily we would be going with a relocation company who does all the moving for you. But it's a big, life-altering choice, and I want us to take everything into account that we can. So that's what's going on for now...kind of overwhelmed and could use a lot of prayers.
Thanks, Debbie

Good luck Debbie, I'll be praying for ya'll. Yes Texas can get very hot, I guess you just get use to it living here so long. Way of living here (to me) is pretty inexpensive compared to other states. Well again good luck and I hope everything works out for you and your family.

Traci,
I am a native Texan...in fact, I think we chatted about it once. I read about one of the ladies here who ran into some man at the store who recognized her name from the message board...or I mean her picture...so let me instead email you about where, ok? The main thing is that it's still a 6-7 hour drive to my family or dh's family...but at least it's closer than where we are now, and it's in TEXAS..which is always better than New Mexico any day. I lived in West Texas before and also in the Dallas area...so I'm used to hot, but this place is SUPER hot...like averages over 100 during the summer months. I guess we need to find a house with a pool, eh? Ha. I'm just a little apprehesive to live somewhere I've never even visited and as it is, we'll be making this decision after only 5 days being there. I am going to be asking the realtor a LOT of questions. One good thing I found out is that they have a very reputable preschool program once my ds begins that...and we pretty much will probably be there still. So I'll be checking out the area pretty thoroughly while I'm there for all the stuff I need to be able to have to "survive" with my ds. I am still considering going back to work (I had recently applied at a local college here, but that will null and void if we move) if I can find a very decent church type infant program or something in a private home. Thing is, I'll have to go off of other people's opinons who I don't know. AT least here, I was aware of what was reputable and what to avoid. Well, that's the price of starting over...at least it's in Texas...and that's where we belong.
