Who do you admire most?

Mothers day is coming and I thought it would be really fun to post about a woman we admire either someone you know personally or someone famous.
I'll go first:
I admire my younger sister most for her perseverance and determination to make a very unhealthy marriage work. She stuck it out continued to pray daily and never lost faith in God and his ability to change even the most desperate of situations. Her marriage is now one of unity and respect, her husband now treats her like gold and he is a very loving , active father to their children . She went through years of hardship and never gave up when most women would have, and now her children are reaping the rewards of her faithfulness and trust in God.

I would have to say I admire my 87yo Grandmother (my mother's mother) most. She raised 12 children and kept them fed in a time and place when that was a BIG accomplishment. She is grandmother to well over a hundred and just became a great-great-grandmother for the first time last year. She cannot deny anyone in need anything, which is her biggest flaw. She's very very active in the church and donated hundreds of dollars towards their new church through bakesale donations, and every other penny she can, given she's living on a social security income. She was married for more than 50 years to a man that didn't deserve her, but her strength of faith kept her committed to the marriage. When I was young I lived only a few houses down from her and spent more time with her at her house than with my mother at home, and this was definitely for the best. She is an amazing woman.

What a great thread Rose!
I have to say my stepmom is one lady that I really have a lot of respect for. She is from a small village in Leyte in the Philippines, where there are no jobs, and her family is very poor. Her first husband was very abusive, so she left him to live with her parents. Because there was no money to provide for her dd's, she had to leave and go to Hong Kong and work as a nanny/cook/housekeeper and send money back to her family. My dad met her through a correspondence program, and knew from the first time he saw her picture that she was the one for him. He flew to Hong Kong to meet her, then a few months later she came over here and they were married. They have a little boy who is just over a year older than my oldest dd. Anyway, all this time she has continued to work VERY hard to send money back to her family. Her parents have raised her girls, and it has been really hard for her. They have literally been working on paperwork, waiting, hoping, and praying, for her dd's to come over here to live. She was finally able to go over there April 1st to finalize all the plans and bring them back. We are still waiting, but they should be back sometime in the next month.
I've talked to Nita many times about how hard it is to be away from them... I've seen the tears in her eyes and the pain that she has gone through; but I also, in a woman only 4'11" and not as big as a bar of soap, see a tower of strength. She is the hardest worker I've ever met in my life, and is one amazing lady.
