Who has had a c-section?

I was watching a baby show earlier and they were talking about the rise in c-sections in America. I was just curious how many of us have had at least one. I had them with both of my girls. With Elise I was in labor for 28hrs and wouldn't progress and my amniotic fluid was low so we decided to do it. With Olivia if I wanted my same doc then I had to opt for the section. I had kinda wanted a vbac, but since my dr who I LOVE wouldn't do them I took that as my sign to go with the repeat.

I had a c-section. I had very bad pre-eclampsia and had an emergency c-section at 30 weeks. I'm not sure if I will have to have one

I had one with DD and I am scheduled for another on 7/19. I was induced because of beginning stages of pre-eclampsia and large baby (8 1/2 pounds!!). I felt a little disappointed afterwards that I will never be able to have a vag birth, but DD had a very strange loop in her cord that we didn't know about before she was born. So the c-section may have saved her!!

I had one with my first because they said he was in distress. With my second I had gestational diabetes and they said they would need to do a c-section because gd babies are mostly larger and could possibly harm the mother. So I have had 2. I really had decent experiences with my c-sections and even did not take hardly an medication afterward.

I was in labor for 30 hours and for most of it they were not happy with my son's vital signs. They weren't horrible, but they were borderling.

I wasn't progressing, and his signs dropped more so they said I needed a c-section. I was thrilled! I was not looking foward to a vaginal birth.

If I get pregnant again, I am not even going to think of a Vbac. Ruptures of the uterus are not common, but they do happen. And why even temp fate?

both my girls were c-sections, and they were horrible. I had a reaction to the anesthesia with Natalie, and recovery was a nightmare both times.

My first, my DD, was born via c-section after failure to progress and 36 hours of an induced labor that we started from scratch as NOTHIN' was happenin'. I only dilated to 5 and she wasn't going to fit through my pelvis anyway (she lost 1/2" inch in her birth length once her head rounded out) so we went ahead with the section which turned into a wham! bam! thank you maam! event once in there as they lost DD's heart beat and my blood pressure bottomed and she came screaming into the world within about 2 minutes. All was well though. She weighed in at 7lbs 4.5oz.

My second, DS #1, was born via scheduled c-section since they monitored his weight very closely and when they estimated him at being 8 lbs by birth I said "Let's schedule it!" He weighed in at 8lbs 5oz.

My third, DS #2, was an obviously scheduled c-section. Two days before the date and my water broke at 6:45AM, in the bathroom thank goodness!! He weighed in at 9lbs 10oz - I was huge while carrying him.

I wouldn't trade any of my pregnancy or birth experiences for the world. It's the end result that is going to matter not how they got here.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi

I went into Labor on Labor Day afternoon (hehe - I love that!) but by WEd at midnight I was dilated 9cm but dd did not progress. I got a fever - they broke my water which I was SO mad about and after hrs they were afraid of infection with my fever so they wsiked my off to a c-section. I cried as I was SO excited and really wanted a vaginal. Oh well.

We are currently trying again and I am really annoyed that my doctors aren't even considering VBAC so I am looking into another OB/GYN now. The chance of a uterine rupture is smaller than the chance of a anethesia mishap, infection, and so many other possibilites with a c-section - ya know the ones the ob's quickly ramble on about before you sign the dotted line! (RN here who has REALLY looked into this!) OB's will admit they like and prefer c-section now (convenience)and also are afraid of their malpractice insurance going up higher if they opt to do VBAC's (the insurance company raises the premiums - my MD said the companies are misinformed.) Who knows. I did have a great recovery but I really would like to try for a reg delivery if I would. Oh well - have already found 4 that do VBAC's - will let you know what happens if I ever get prego's soon - I have been trying for a few months!!
