WHOA and YIKES!

WOW! Have any of you been over to the SAHM vs. WOHM debate board? Key word..DEBATE. Wow, I went there just to see what some perspectives were from some who stayed home and some who chose or had to work, and WHOA! They can be a ruthless bunch 'o gals! Most of them seem highly educated (a couple have Master's Degrees and one is working on a PhD, etc) and the conversations involve a lot of statistics, research news, etc. But YIKES! the debates about what is "better" for their kids and what they think is better for EVERYONE's kids at times...geez!

I have not posted and don't think I'm going to...hehe. There is one topic that has 546...yes, that's right...546 posts to it that began with the topic one lady brought up about an article that research had shown that babies do fine when moms work out of the home, etc. Basically, it was just a summary that the research found that babies (to age 3 I believe) did not do better/worse as far as emotional/spiritual toll or something like that whether they were at home with a parent or in a daycare or othercare. Then the debate began. They got into temperament of the child, temperament of the parent, quality of the othercare, quality vs. quality time with the parent when both worked out of the house, etc. 546 posts later...I don't think these ladies are going to change one another's minds..hehe.

Anyway, my point in telling you all is this....thank you for being a support here. I have said I am probably about to go back to work, and I've stated my reasons. No one jumped on me or said I'm a bad mom for choosing to go back to work when I don't really have to (financially anyway). I think I "have to" for my sanity..hehe. But there is NO WAY I would feel safe posting over there in that group...they are ruthless...lol. I guess that's why they include the word "debate" in the title of the message board. In any case, if you have "time"...like who does...it's an interesting read and I, for one, felt a lot better knowing I'm not the kind of person that is interested in becoming a part of bashing other ladies just b/c they don't agree with my opinion. And I'm glad to be here on this board where I haven't encountered anyone like that, either.

LOL, Debbie! Yep I was warned about that board and I've been too "afraid" to venture over there! Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I have my own, but

LOL...Debbie being a parent who homeschools I have had to put on the 'Zena Warrior Princess' battle gear a few times...but even I stay the heck away from THAT board!!! LOL

It is funny that I am somewhat of a feminist as a stay at home mom. I am the first to fight for women's right to equal pay and moving up the corporate ladder. It makes me sad that women cannot support each other and realize that what is right for one family, is not right for another.

It is ashame that women are fighting over the dumbest things. They should put that energy towards their family or their goals in life and not towards each other.
