I posted yeterday about Vinnie being tongue-tied. Well, last night I was at my sisters, and my neices from is tongue-tied, they have been friend a long time and my neice never knew. Her friend went on to tell me that she's getting it fixed now and she's terrified(shes 12). I guess her tongue is pulling on her gums and causing problems. I'm soo glad I made an appt. to get this done for Vinnie. I would hate to put him through that when hes older! Isn't that just wierd??

It is a little weird. Jenny's a little tounge tied. I actually think she's A LOT tounge tied, but none of her docs have ever wanted to do anything about it. They say as long as the tip of her tounge can touch the edge of her top teeth she's fine. It's hard for me to insist they do something they don't think she needs and that I know is going to cause her pain, KWIM? But I see she has problems and they don't. Her biggest problem is she can't scrape food off the roof of her mouth when it get's stuck. She can't eat a PBJ, LOL. And she was great at nursing but terrible with a bottle. Bless her heart, half of it would run down the front of her. But what should I say? Do it anyway? It's hard. When she was about 2 and a half I almost insisted they do it because of the problems she was having. If there she ate something she had a hard time manipulating with her tounge, she'd pouch it between her cheek and lower gums. I'd find lunch in her mouth 2 hours after she ate! Right as I was gonna make them do it, she got better. So I let it go. But some day she may still want to have it done herself. My first pediatrican said he once did a little boy who was about 8 years old so he could lick an icecream cone like other kids. Someday that could be Jenny. And she has a little problem with speach, her r's sound like w's. If you think about how the tounge moves when it makes an r sound it makes sense that it could be because of the tounge tie. She's getting a speach evaluation the 19th of this month and we'll see what they say. She may have to have it clipped yet.

Sorry I didn't see your other post, I would have put this response there! I think you're right to have it done now rather than wait. I wish I'd made them do Jenny's when she was a baby.

Glad you are feeling better about it.
I hope all goes well when he has it done. Like you said, better now then when he is older.
