Hey everyone, most of you know how frugal (alright cheap) I am. For Matt's b-day he is having this outrageous Star Wars Party....don't you think the cake should match? The cake I want is 100.00$ which is pretty expensive for a cake at a kids party. I mean I could just go to sams and get a 25 dollar cake but Matt's friends and cousins will all be there and we are doing some pretty cool stuff. Do you think that is to outrageous...if you were at a party like this, would you even notice the cake?

here is a pic...

That is a cool cake, but 100.00 I don't know if I'd spend that and I get crazy with what I buy sometimes.

But then again it is a special occasion!

I think its a cool cake and all, but I couldnt spend that much on it. I just could let myself spend $100.00 on something thats going to be mushed up lol. Great cake though!

well I must REALLY be the cheap one here, b/c to me that's like stuffing a $100 bill in your mouth and eating it LOL (this coming from the person who spends $0.93 on a cake mix and $1.37 on a can of frosting ;o)

I would bet that it's so expensive b/c of the fondant and the pictures. I've seen bakeries that put pictures on cakes, and they don't cost nearly that much.
Maybe you should shop around and see what else you can find. It seems small for $100, and I bet if you check with some local bakeries that you can find something larger & cheaper, and just as cool.

I would NEVER pay $100 for a cake! I dont care how much money I have, lol. Do you have a grocery store around you that will make a Star Wars cake? Dom had a Star Wars cake for his party last year, we got it at Giant Eagle, and it cost $30 and it was like double the size of the cake in the pic. It was reallly cute, had Darth Vader and Annakin, a few figurines he still plays with. They put like orange icing for fire, it was great. Just a thought!

It looks cool, but not 100 dollars cool. I'd definitely shop around.

WOW! You're kidding me?? $100 for a cake??I don't even spend that an the entire party. It is an awesome looking cake but $100 is alot of money. We always make our cakes or buy them from Sam's or Wal-Mart.I don't think the cake will make or break the party..it will all eat the same..lol.We have a birthday in May,June and July in our house (the other one is in December which of course is right around Christmas) so we have budget parties. If you want to make it a party that's memorable you might want to let your son know how much money there is to spend on the party and let him know what he doesn't spend on the party will go into his savings account.I find this accomplishes 2 things in my house..cheaper parties and more savings :o)

I think for that cake, no I would not. Does not look like a $100 cake to me. Can you not have a place make it for you cheaper? Take a picture and see if they can duplicate or copy it to some extecnt for less?
Either way, I hope he has a awesome party :)
