Is your Christmas tree up?

Last night we put up Christmas tree. I usually have it up before advent- but I was slow this year.
I wanted to buy a new tree but the kids looked offended at the suggestion. Our current tree was bought when my now 13 year old boy was a 4 month old baby. I was informed that I couldn't throw out "our" tree. It has been bounced around through many moves., it is misshapen and older artificial trees tend to look thin. But my stubborn kids insist that we keep it.
I did buy some new LED lights- they don't heat up and they are more energy efficient and cheaper to operate. The ones I have are fatter and remind me of the ones my family put on the tree in the 60's! (my family are packrats so they were probably from the 50's and I know they were used until the 80's)

No, we put it up closer to Christmas. I'm in the minority with this, I know, but it's just a personal preference. If I have it up weeks in advance, I get sick of it by Christmas, LOL! I like to put it up close to Christmas so it kind of "ushers in the season." OTOH, we will be decorating the house this weekend. Everything but the tree.
We actually put up 2 trees: one big one in the family room that is *very* tall (we have cathedral 2-story ceilings in that room), and one smaller one in the livingroom. We'll probably do it in about 2 weeks. We do a little family tree-decorating tradition, and play Christmas music and drink hot cocoa when we do it.
Ana, I'm getting in the Christmas spirit too! Man, if it weren't for Christmas, this time of year would so totally $uck!! It's dark, damp and cold. Christmas brightens things up so much. I don't know how people who don't celebrate Christmas (or some holiday) keep from getting depressed at this time of year.

I'm a lurker here, mostly bc my first isn't due until March so I'm not technically a SAHM yet. When I saw this post I had to comment... getting the Christmas tree has been on my mind for the last few weeks! Anyway,
No tree yet for me... Everything else is decorated and the tree items are nicely set out awaiting the arrival of our tree. Being that we are new to this area I didn't know where to get a tree much less how much it would cost up here (northern jersey), BUT today (after shopping for my baby shower decorations) I saw a place that has $15 trees. I don't know if that's reasonable or not but I was expecting it to be higher. Now my mission is to get dh to go pick one up with me tomorrow night. I have a pretty good guilt trip on him tonight over something unrlated, SOO I think I just might get my tree tomorrow!! Soooo excited! :-) I love Chirstmas time!

welcome out of lurkdom!!! and congratulations on the upcoming baby. I have a March baby as well!
I think $15 for a tree is an incredibly good deal. Here they run from around $30-$70 dollars. The only place here that has $15 trees is Ikea, but they are actually $25, but when you buy the tree, you get a $10 coupon for the store, so in a way its like they are $15.00
