I have been following the "Terry Schiavo" case where they have been debating on whether or not to remove the feeding tube. Well, they removed the tube on Friday and it looks like they will not put it back in....what do you guys think about that?

Don't get me started on that.

This is such a sad story. All I can say is that she's a living, breathing person and how can anyone think that starving her to death is the right thing to do? I feel very badly for her family having to watch her go thru this.

I think it's awefull for everyone involved. Terry, her "husband" and her family.

I don't think it's right to starve her to death, if someone did that to a dog, they would be arrested for animal cruelty!

I wouldn't want to be kept alive if I were in her place, but I have my wishes written out, and have told dh, family and friends of my wishes. It's sad that it came down to her husbands word alone, and there is no proof that this is what she wanted. So sad for her poor parents. I can't imagine. I don't know whay they didn't leave the tube in and let her "live" as she was until she passes away on her own. I hope this isn't a life insurance type thing on her husbands part. So sad.

I think in this case that the husband has the right to let her go or have her live. Sometimes we tell our spouse more then we tell our parents. I think that the parents do not want to see their daughter go, which is like anyone would feel.
I think that should make up their mind and be done with it. She suffers each time they take that tube out and then puts it back. She almost went 2 weeks once starving and then they give it back. How horrible!!
I just hope that soon she can be at peace.

It's absolutely heartbreaking...

From a Christian perspective, I'm just praying that the Lord either heals her or takes her peacefully and doesn't let her suffer anymore.

Altogether Lovely

God is good and merciful
because he is also bright and intelligent.
Seeing, feeling all that is true.
Clearly he feels and listens
to all our desires.
Clearly he has everybody's
dreams in mind.
I see a God altogether lovely.

I agree with all of these posts, what has our judicial system come to? It's SOO heartbreaking to see her parents on tv fighting for their daughters life who is starving to death. I just don't get the logic, ok, she can't do anything for herself, but it doesn't mean we kill her! She's a living person, and if you see her on tv she is not a vegetable. I can go on and on about this... I'm praying they do something fast.

I am a lurker on this board. I am currently TTC # 1 for 15 mths..and plan to join this board officially when I become a mom...But I wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this post.

I think this is a horrible situation.... A situation I would NOT wish on anyone. Basically, what I think is.......Her husband has moved on with his life..He has remarried or at least in a serious relationship and has a new family (I heard this on the radio..so if it is false I apologize)...... I think he should turn over his rights to her parents. I am sure he still cares for her... But why fight for her in any way..when he has moved on?? I think one reason he is fighting to keep the tube out is BECAUSE he has moved on...and he would feel better..becuase he may feel like he is "cheating" on her..because she is still alive. I see the videos of her smiling and I go to tears. I personally think that she can feel. I also think that if God really wanted to take her...he would..no matter if she was on the feeding tube. I think if something like this is allowed... Then the goverment and/or doctors..should come up with a more humane way to end people's lives. I think starving them to death is horrific. I also feel if she has not written or had people witness her saying that she would want to die..then LIFE should be the decision.

In either way..I hope she does NOT suffer. And if she does pass on...I KNOW she will be better off...with GOD! Though I know its hard for her parents..and don't blame them for fighting for her......I think in the back of their minds...they should KNOW that God will take care of her...and if she was to pass...they will meet again.... where they will be able to see Terry walk and talk. Okay I am crying now. It is just sad that there isn't a more humane way doing what they are doing....

Oh I also feel that doing this to her is no different than dying cancer patients asking to die by a Drs hands. If a cancer patient is in severe pain and only has a few months to live and tired of the pain....... Doctors or NOBODY is allowed to help that person end their own life. My mind...the dying cancer patient should be able to have their life ended BEFORE Terry...who can not speak for herself. At least the dying cancer patient could be "killed" more humane..by an injection or something.

Okay sorry so long! :)

Hugs,
Christy
