I'm so sorry to hear you talk that way. I know how you feel though. I lost my job a year ago June and I'm still unemployed. If I didn't have my dh to support me, I'd be in dire straights. It's very depressing when you think you'll never work again. I've felt that way too. I'm 50 so I really feel like I'm being discriminated against. I can only imagine what it's like to be a minority as well.

Have you considered online teaching? My dh and good friend both teach for "for-profit" colleges and make a nice chunk of change. You only need a masters degree. These schools are growing by leaps and bounds and they always need people. There are also virtual k-12 environments as well. I know Florida Virtual School is a big one.
I'm so sorry you are feeling so hopeless. I hope things turn around for you. It's a very hard time for so many people. This economy just sucks!

My head and thoughts are in very dark places. I dont have any real support and if I fail, I'll be 40 living with my mother again working a partime job. I did all this to end up with nothing. And its my fault, I didnt save well and here I am. I need it to turn around soon. I've been fighting this battle for two years.

Hey I am sorry. I know how much the job market sucks. I have a job but we really want to move, but it is jsut not working out. I have been frozen on the pay scale for.... four years now I think. I know things can be so much worse, and I am sorry you are going through all of this. I know you are probably not in a place where you can do this, but just in case... have you thought of getting into daycare? Like working as a preschool teacher at a daycare. Or do you belong to a church that you could start a preschool at? I have been looking into doing that at some point because the red tape for starting a preschool at a church is nothing. Also if they are willing to let you use some of their items you want have too much money into getting it started. Just a thought.

GT you know my tale of woe. I completely understand. Like Guili I have other support, but I've felt everything you are experiencing. When I decided I'd had enough last fall

I moved to a place where my certification would transfer. I didnt understand the "racial" dynamic here. I dont even think its about competition, I just think that blacks are being "priced" out of DC and have had to move on because its no longer feasible or affordable. Most blacks here, live suburban and drive into the city.
