Beginning a project on this snowy day
| Fri, 02-08-2013 - 6:48pm |
Hello all,
I hope those of you in the Northeast enjoyed the snow day today. As for me, I am restless. Obamacare is trying to remove Asperger's from the autism spectrum. As someone with a fair knowledge of this disorder and its similarities to classical autism, I think this is a bad idea. This ties in with my latest scheme. Along with my husband, we are trying to write a scholarly paper calling for a different approach to the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders including AS. This is partially inspired by the new book, Bright Not Broken. Could anyone out there help me develop a "to-do" list for this project?
Thanks,
Beth "Petrouchka"
Hi Beth,
You can look at all of the databases but, the newspaper one will probably be the least helpful. ERIC can be great but, you need to check what kind of access you have. Sometimes all you get is an abstract but, if you need the whole article you can usually order it.
Good luck with your research!
Hi Giuli, and thanks for popping in. Through the Ontario College of Teachers (Ontario's Teacher Certification Board), I have access to the following: Academic Search Complete, Canadian Reference Centre, Education Research Complete, ERIC, and Newspaper Source Plus. Should I check all of these, or just some? I am thinking ERIC might be a start.
Express!

I haven't read the book and I don't have any specific training with Asperger's. I have some experience dealing with Asperger's but nothing that would help with a scholarly paper. Sorry! I wish I could help.
Best wishes with your research.
