I was just reading the thread about professional dress code and thought I would start this one about shoes.....

Do you have a favorite brand name and style?

Well I went on the "crocs" website before school started to see if they made anything that was remotely professional, but I was disappointed. I lived in my crocs this summer, and they were SO comfortable. I used them as shower shoes in campgrounds, I wore them on a jetboat on the Niagara River, I tromped through Carlsbad Caverns in them. They're ugly but comfortable. But not professional.

My favorite tried and true school shoes are Easy Spirits. Not the greatest looking or most hip shoes out there, but very comfortable for my feet. I had 2 pairs of lace up ones made out of a soft suede leather that I wore until I couldn't wear them anymore. I think they were discontinued because I got them for $15 at Dillard's. I just bought 2 pairs of their sneakers at Stein Mart. I pair of canvas ones for $19.99 and a pair of "real" sneakers for $39.99. Buy one, get one half off.

Lately most shoes that I put on make my feet hurt. Yesterday was really bad, but my Easy Spirits were on my feet today. And I'm still kickin'.

More info than you wanted?

Karen

Great question! I'm getting to the point where my feet hate most shoes.

Karen, Crocs are made here in Colorado. They actually make them WITHOUT the holes! They also have some that they make with just holes in the sides. You can check them out on crocs dot com. Good luck!

PS - just re-read your post, and I see that you've already visited their website. I'm sorry you didn't like the ones without holes. Our priest actually wears them during Mass, and they look great! (Just like regular shoes). I think you would be surprised at how professional the hole-less ones look.

I think I mentioned before that I'm a Dansko fan. There are about 6 of us at school who only wear Danskos. I Love, love, love them!

Last spring I bought two pairs of clogs, They are SoftWalk. They're great! The footbed is padded with material that feels like those egg carton foam pads you can put on a bed. They actually have your foot bounce when you walk. They are very comfortable but were also expensive (over $100). Otherwise I like Naturalizer or Easy Spirit shoes. I feel like such an old lady. I almost never wear heels now. I'm all about comfort.

(edited to add the right name)

The ones I have are very comfortable and keep my feet, back, and legs from hurting. I have all black (no other colors on them at all), all leather Reeboks ($40-45). But, I wouldn't say they are heaven just to slip in. But I'm happy that I don't have the issues that I do tend to have with non-sneakers. Oh, and they are also NOT hi-tops. I used to wear all black Reebok hi-tops for work when I worked in a grocery store for 5 years. They didn't help with support or anything.

Our faculty is allowed to wear sneakers and most (60% or so) wear just regular sneakers in all kinds of colors (green, silver, pink, black, grey, white, etc). I prefer the all-black ESPECIALLY with black pants, which I wear twice/week. I don't mind my white/pink or white/blue sneakers with khakis as much, and do wear these for "game days" since I'm usually on duty out in the field and the black shoes totally show it.

I just love Clarks. I live in them and they do not make my feet hurt.
