You're so right! In one way we say we accept and value difference and in another we clearly show we don't or can't. I understand that parents want their special needs child to reach his or her full potential, but I also know that there are times when trying to make that child adapt to academic demands and comparisons beyond his/her ability does more damage than accepting success in their own special way.


There's a difference between giving the students a quality education, the best education, the same education and equal education. That's what we've missed with NCLB.

Second grade? That's early compared to my experience. I taught fourth for several years and I was often the person who finally got them tested and placed. The school
