Hi ladies,

It's been months since I posted and while so many things have happened that are good, two things happened that are not so good. So where do I start??

Well, I loved my school. Meet some great people, had some fun, loved my kids and learned so much more about my culture that I didn't know. I've been to Vegas, DC and Traverse City. I've been to a ton of parties, hung out almost every weekend and honestly have consumed more alcohol in the last two years, than in my entire lifetime. So many wonderful things have happened. I even fell in love, TWICE in one year but what goes up must come down.....

I got laid off, for the 3rd time in 6 years. This time, I did absolutely nothing wrong and they told me that to my face. Budget cuts. Only to rehire my position at a lower rate. A-holes....

And speaking of which,

Thanks Beth,

Well, my urban youth and I, "look exactly alike" if you get my drift and sometimes unfortunately, students from a certain background don't allow for people who are different from them "on the outside" to give them the wealth of knowledge and experience that they have. Which is so ridiculous. Also, I can't say they don't wipe me out cause they do. And they can be so crazy with their thinking and rationale it can drive you to madness. But that's where the greatest need is and where the jobs are. I would love to teach in a calm, serene, happy district with no problems or issues, but that only exists in my dreams. Every district has its problems....

Yes, I have certainly had my ups and downs this year, but I have to say. It's been a hell of a ride and it's only going to get better. ((((((hugs))))))) right back to ya!!

Hey, GT: It's so great to hear from you! I wish you had better news, but I know you're a strong lady and you can handle anything that comes your way. You also learn from your mistakes so that means that life gets easier and the path gets clearer.

I love DC but I know the public schools are in need of real help. It would be a challenge for you, but knowing you, I think you'd enjoy rising to the occasion.

Hey sherry, how are you?

I can understand why I was laid off the other times, but to be told that I did a great job and I did nothing wrong and yet it was budget, I don't feel too bad this time. I will miss my people and the friends I made, but it's time to make more money.

Hey! I just saw this pop up on MSN. DC is the #1 place to find a job!

You don't have to tell me twice. I'm outta here! Did you see Detroit at the BOTTOM of the list?? That's horrible. Look's like I also better look into Jacksonville Florida, see what they have to offer. Thanks Sherry. I know statistics aren't exact, but it does give me great hope. Besides, even if DC starts me off at the 1st year level, again, 10 grand more than Michigan teachers make. I'm on the MOOOOOOVVVVEEE!!!
