HATE standardized testing

We are currently 2 days into our 2 weeks of state standardized tests and so far, both days I've had kids in tears.

I know your pain!

I am no longer teaching in the classroom (took a leave after 10-years to stay home with my little ones), but taught for a district that was a leader in testing scores in our state.

SO WHAT?!!! I had a bunch of stressed out 3rd graders that we tested on different skills all year long. By testing time, they were burnt out. And so were the teachers. Wow, in April and May we can finally teach science and social studies *insert sarcasm*.

While I miss my colleagues and my little people, I don't miss teaching. The thought of returning to the classroom makes my stomach hurt.

There's the newer saying, "those that can't handle it, get out of the teaching profession." Well, I guess that must be true b/c I was putting in ungodly amounts of hours outside of the regular school day and spent every weekend up at school. If that's what it takes to be the cream of the crop in achieving outstanding test scores than I don't want to be a part of it. I missed out on the first 3 years of my 5-year old's life and I refuse to do that with my 3 year old and now Baby #3.
