My name is Mary and I teach 3rd grade in an inner city school, where studetns are bussed to us from the surrounding urban and suburban areas. I have also taught K for a number of years. My school is an IB (International Baccalaureate (sp) school too so that is a challenge. We have pre-k through 5th grade in our building.

Welcome Mary! We aren't a super busy board but we have a lot of long-time members here that are very supportive. I didn't know elementary schools could be IB. I thought it was just a HS thing.
We have teachers here with all sorts of different experience. I started out as a teacher of the deaf, stayed at home with my kids for several years, went back to school for my MLS and have worked as a school librarian since 1999. I'm currently unemployed, unfortunately but, I haven't given up looking for a new position.
Welcome again!

I too am an unemployed teacher who would like to extend a welcome.  I trained as a musician, and found myself teaching middle school band '02-'03.  I didn't have certification for years.  NCLB and coming to Canada convinced me to get it once and for all.  I finished in 2010- guess what?  No one has been hiring.  I am currently waiting to see if a job I perceive as perfect will call me in for an interview.

Welcome Mary! It's always great to have a new voice on the board. We are a great group and welcome all newcomers. I am a media specialist and have a background that includes teaching in K-6, administration,  teaching in higher ed and working in consulting and staff development.  I hope you enjoy the Circle and visit us often.

I am a third grade teacher as well, but in a suburban district. I've taught third for 12 years and taught fourth for two before that. I really think third graders are the best age, don't you?
