He's in the class with MY KIDS....

School starts next week and being a charter school, we have high staff turnover. Okay, that's fine. So, we've got a rainbow coalition going on in our school and I think that's great.....

One of the middle school teachers that was hired asked to bring on a friend who also needed a job....

His friend is a caucasian male. His name is Mr. C. He sits in the meetings with his feet up on chairs, biting his nails and rolling his eyes at everyone. He has made a smart mouthed comment to every black person that works here. Why?? Because everytime one of us encounters him, he says something very nasty and frowns up at us...

This cannot be imagined by 10 people. IT IS REAL!! So......

Yesterday was the second night of parent orientation. He and two other teachers weren't there, so when they came in, I said to him, "Hey we missed you yesterday" HIS REPLY WAS...

I HAD PERMISSION TO LEAVE. WHO ARE YOU TO ASK ME MY PERSONAL BUSINESS. I THINK IT IS VERY INAPPROPRIATE FOR YOU TO DO THAT...

So, I said, "dude, take it down a thousand, I was just kidding, sorry if I offended you" I turned around, he started up again, "BUT DON'T YOU THINK THAT'S INAPPROPRIATE, WHO ARE YOU TO ASK ME MY PERSONAL BUSINESS, THAT'S MY BUSINESS".....

So I turned around again and said, "Damn, get over it. I apologized, let's just respect each other as colleagues but otherwise let's not address each other."

He starts up again, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO RAISE YOUR VOICE, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS ASKING ME MY PERSONAL BUSINESS, IT'S INAPPROPRIATE, THAT'S MY BUSINESS..."

That's when I went "smoooth the fork off" "LOOK DAMNIT, IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE, I ASKED YOU NOT TO ADDRESS ME, YOU KEEP TALKING, YOU NEED TO SHUT YOUR MOUTH YOUR ARROGANT SOB." Then of course I walked away cussing.....

My boss was not in the room at the time but man oh man I wish she was. Why did she hire him?? Was he that good at hiding his true feelings for the sake of a job....

If he has treated all the black staff this way, how do you think he is going to treat his students WHO ARE ALL BLACK....

How is he going to address his students parents?? I can't imagine he is going to be any nicer to them than he is to us....

I want to go to her and tell her what happened, but I don't want to get into any trouble, but I don't want him spewing his version of the incident either....

Again, I can accept that he didn't like me asking. It was a joke, I was kidding, I was asking the others as well, same situation as in my grad class.....

I can't wait until school starts and he rubs our "crazy parents" the wrong way. Oh man oh man, it's gonna be buckwild up in there!!

Wow! Well now you know why he needed a job! Surely the admin has noticed this attitude in the meetings.

She needs certified teachers so badly, she may overlook it. Or he interviewed so well, that she has no clue....

Here's my thing, because she has not witnessed any of these things. It may appear that I am falsely accusing another co-worker. It has been his response to things when asked, he answers in a terse, nasty tone, he rolls his eyes at us when any of us speaks to him and does not speak back.....

He gives off a negative vibe and it is obvious to everyone, except for the principal who has been so busy this week, maybe she didn't notice....

The person who recommended him SEEMS like a decent man. He didn't have a reaction to the situation either way. But I must question his true heart as well if this is the kind of friends he keeps......

I am sure it will all come out in the wash by the end of the week....

He's not going to make it. He is going to say something ignorant the VERY FIRST TIME he has to check one of the students for misbehavior....

Believe me, it will happen....

The kids are gonna fish him out. If they don't, the parents will. I will leave it up to the parents because that's who the principal listens to.

These kids have so many problems. They are screwed up and yet they are mine and I love them inspite of it, they don't need "Mr. Arrogant SOB" talking down to them like they are nothing....

Why would he take the job if he was so ABOVE it. What an idiot. Here's hoping he quits before the kids and parents whoop his monkey behind!!

Well, let's see...why did he take the job if he's so superior? Maybe he has an agenda...to put all of you in your place, to prove you'll snap or that you're as bad and he's as great as he believes. Maybe worse..he might want to "teach" those kids something, and it isn't reading, writing and arithmetic. If he's as bad as you say, I agree he'll screw up quickly.

Like I said, you don't and shouldn't have to talk to the admin alone. It shouldn't be a tattle situation. Make it a sincere concern about the kids, parents, and school reputation. Tell her you know she's been busy and missed a lot of what the others have seen. Just ask her to watch carefully so that if things get worse it will be caught quickly.
