Hi! I'm Aubrey and I have been a teacher since 2005. I am currently just coming off my maternity leave of having twins. I am currently supply teaching, applying for LTO's with no hope. My last LTO was in 2009-2010. I have supplied for two years straight. I like supplying. I've been waiting for the phone to ring every night, but nothing comes. I have taught JK, SK, 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7, plus Special Education. I'm married, have my twin babies who just turned one, and a dog. I just wanted to introduce myself. Hoping to get some supply calls soon. Been on the board since 2005. Thanks, A

Hi Aubrey!  I'm Beth, pounding the pavement looking for work in the suburbs of Toronto.  Judging by the vocabulary you were using, you are teaching in Canada, possibly even near me!  Thanks for the well wishes on the other job- from what I understand, those folks have still not called in for interviews.  In the meantime, I have a part time job teaching ESL in the morning for a private company, and I teach music lessons afternoons and evenings.  Welcome to the Ivillage Teacher board, and come back often!  We need all the support we can get (and I personally could use some Canuck support.)

Express!

Hi Aubrey. Welcome to the board. I started out my career in education as a teacher of the deaf. I stayed home with my 3 kids for several years when they were small then I returned to school to get a MLS. I started working as a school librarian in 1999. I am currently unemployed as I lost my last job in June of 2010. I had one long term sub position that ended this past June.
Good luck with your job search. I hope things are better where you are than they are in my neck of the woods.

Ahem!  Giuli, if I'm right about her being in Canada, things are not better here, they are worse!

Hi, Aubrey!  Welcome to the Teachers' Circle!  You are not alone in your job hunt. Several of us have struggled to find a secure position. Everyone is frustrated with the budget cuts and program eliminations that seem to be a lot more popular than hiring great teachers. Admins prefer no experience to any experience and don't care about the effects. I sure  hope things get better soon. Until then, feel free to vent and share all you want. The board is a support board and everyone will be here to listen and share our advice and experience.
