It sounds like she has some wicked test anxiety, or she's just sick of testing.

What type of questions are they? Are both sections similar or is the second one totally different? I mean is one reading for details and the other inferences? If they are alike and she's blowing the second one, then maybe she's showing you she doesn't like to concentrate on testing or she can't concentrate for the longer time period. It could be test anxiety or it could be that she's right on the edge of her reading ability and she can't get it without your help. It could also just be confidence. She doesn't believe in herself and knows that if she makes mistakes you'll keep supporting her. Maybe she wants the encouragement and attention. If I knew more about the test maybe I could come up with something more helpful. Sorry!
